Ugh...so I have been envious of those of you that removed (or maybe bought new plastics to do a color change and they were bare) the factory TR650 graphics. Just now I pulled out the hair dryer and heated up the right side "TR650" decal and began to remove it. Well low and behold Husky had applied a clear coat over the body panel AFTER attaching the decal ! Now my right side has a huge patch of non-glossy plastic that is way larger (above and below) than the decal :banghead:

So my master plan was to take the TR to the local car vinyl wrap shop tomorrow to have custom graghics (SM650 tank-ish) created for the TR but now I have to re-think everything

It looks like now I may as well paint the graphics on since I need to re-clear the entire panel anyways.

I REALLY did not want to ruin the factory finish....UGH !!

When we bought our new Kayaks I went to the car detailing shop and bought some small strips of 3M Paint protector to put over the "Wilderness" Logo the paddles were scraping them... worked great. Maybe try that.

(Funny I just mention about 3M products in the Windshield thread too.):D

It's so bazaar how they keep changing things in production along the way. Is it really that bad...can you blend it in by buffing it? The dull plastic should shine up nicely. If not, HuskyDude's solution sounds pretty good.

I just took regular black electrician tape and put a few strips on each side..from a few feet I looks " black" ...and I can alway peel it off & go back stock. Course mines mostly black anyhow as its a Strada!

Eh, bitting the bullet and just ordering new plastics. They are cheap enough that this lesson learned is not costing me too much. On that note I will get the BLACK Strada plastics and will eventually re-clear my current red ones. I am looking at making grafics like the tank of the 2010 SM630 and will do a set in red (for the Strada plastics) and a set in black (for the Terra plastics). Lol...I can change the color of the bike every week to keep the neighbors guessing if I am buying a ton of bikes
