I only have 70 miles on the bike divided into three rides, at the last ride end i was unlocking my gate and the bike was at idle and it died. i restarted it, then when i tried to take off it died again, same thing again, this is annoying! my machine was mfg on 9/12 last four digits of serial# is 3964 Is this a first run bike or a second? I did not receive a tool kit with the bike, it really seems sluggish at lower rpm's i have not had it over 3500 rpm's the demo bike i rode died twice on the ten mile test ride but seemed more crisp but it had 275 miles. I don't know if i can tolerate 600 miles of engine malfunctioning before the moss flash and first service. Any advice Husqvarna guys? I live in Tennessee, but there is not a dealer here, so i purchased my bike in Georgia, just outside Chattanooga, they had a great price, they had a moss tool new in the box but i was given the impression that they were not going to open it, the next nearest dealer in Birmingham, AL when i called the service dept a week ago, stated that they had sent the moss tool back. Its sorta funny that the sales person from AL called me today and wanted to know if i was still looking for a 650, (I had called them before my purchase) I asked the sales guy if he had the tools to service the 650 and he assured me that if they had sent the tool back, there was a better replacement coming, So I guess I will go to Eurosports in North Carolina. Where they know what they are doing. The only issue other than it turning itself off that I have with the bike is the twitty exhaust sound, i really want to modify the exhaust but don't want to make it more lean, what really gets rid of the chirp? regardless of my problems, This is the best duel sport bike I have ever owned!
Luge, congrats on your purchase! You should definitely hit up Eurosport in Asheville. I got my bike from them and they flashed it before I left the dealership. I have had ZERO problems like others have described. I think a MOSS check is in order at 600 miles, but I think it can be reflashed at anytime with good results. As for the chirp, there have been a few threads on this. Everyone has narrowed it down to the spark arrestor and its retaining ring. Somewhere there is a post with pictures on how to remove the arrestors and replace them with a stainless screen. I can't seem to find it right now though. It is here though. In the meantime, here are two relevant threads for you. http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/tweety-bird-exhaust-note.30093/ http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/exhaust.29766/
http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/exhaust-modification.31317/ ...but if you do not want to mod your exhaust then just pull the circlips and lube them with a (very) little high temperature grease. Please let us know how it works out for you.
Are you letting it idle for a couple minutes on start-up without touching the throttle? I noticed that the bike stumbles more if you don't let it dial into itself before taking off (even after the re-flash). Also, I had the re-flash at 600 miles and it made a huge difference - definitely worth doing!
My vin is just past 4000, and have not had a problem, but I do let it warm up a few minutes - as strange as it may sound, I do not have a choice because our driveway is a long steep decent. Personally I would sit tight for a couple of weeks before traveling to get to a MOSS tool, who knows what may be announced with regards to the Husqvarna buyout.
Yes I agree if you can wait a bit, it might be a good thing. If not, there is no reason for not getting the TPS reset with the Moss. It is suggested by the Dealers to have it done @ 600m/1000km so they may also reset things on the bike and record it on the Scheduled Maintenance Program found on your USB stick. Don't forget it when you do take your bike in.
Luge take it over to Eurosport. I bought mine there and the Moss thing was done when I picked up the bike. My bike hasn't stalled and has great get up and go. I bought a Tiger 800 from the folks in Ringold because the price was right. That about all the good I can say about them.
Do what wolf trax said...call Justin @ Eurosport. They will take care of you regardless of where you bought it. The Moss tool isn't for a first time user like the guys in Ringlod...IMHO..letting the bike idle will help....for sure can't hurt...but until you do the Moss it will continue to be the way it is. Get it over there even f you have to haul it......different bike....smiles imho . Either way good luck. (I am in Knoxville) let me know ahead of time and I'd be happy to ride over to Eurosport with you....just call ahead. My email is skeenj@att.net
