Does anybody know of a dealer that has a Terra in stock? My dealer doesn't have one and claims that they can no longer order them.
Where are you located? Have you thought about buying a Strada. Same bike, just different wheels and ABS. For what many Stradas are selling for, you can buy the Strada and a spare set of spoke wheels/tires to Terra-fy it and still come out cheaper.
I'm in Anchorage, Alaska. Thought about a Strada, but I'm not really all that mechanical to deal with canging things around.
Righty tighty, lefty loosey. That's the most complicated thing you'll have to deal with. It's all bolts.
So I talked to a friend of mine that's much more mechanically inclined---He agrees--it's not that much to terra-ify it. Regardless, my dealer says they can't get a Strada either. I have no idea how to do this, or where to buy one from. I'll have to have the dealer get involved in shipping it via Alaska Air to Anchorage. Does the board have a dealer they like to deal with? Obviously, I'd like to deal with somebody in the Northwest region.
Bills Motorcycles Plus in Salem. They are a sponsor here. Two weeks ago several of each model on the floor.
If only Canada would let me in, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, a DWI when I was 21 (23 years ago!) prevents me from entering the country.
Did hear that there will be 2014 Terra's and Strada's for what that is worth. Seems that all of the 2013's in port and in Italy were omalogated by BMW and not by KTM so cannot be imported. Husky is going to get this fixed at one point and issue bikes MSO's as 2014's and get them out to the dealers, still at discounted price. WHen is going to be the million dollar question. Parts is also "shutting down" for hte big move from Bethlehem PA to AMerhurst, Ohio or somewhere in Ohio. this is going to be in the first part of June. BMW has "let go " all of the hired parts help minus one person to handle all the parts fills at the moment. Don't break anything till the middle end of June!!
That's great, as I am now officially in the market to buy. Now Im playing with buy as soon as I can, or wait and see what the line-up looks like for 2014, even with the rumor of 2014 Terras/Stradas. Hmm, decisions, decisions....
This is quite probably the best news I've heard in a while. That implies more support (somehow) for the MOSS (or substitute) - and hopefully another year of parts availability.
Interesting. That explains why Grand Prix was having such a hard time getting a response from Husky on the rear fender replacement on my bike. It litterally took them 2 weeks of hounding various people to get the approval to order the parts. I've been on the phone with GP nearly daily. I finally got the call this morning that they are ordered and on the way. Knock on wood they actually ship out and get here quick!!
Good luck with the purchase. Great machines, just caught up in the world economics, but they aren't going away anytime soon. Just to be sure I said it right, the TR's will be unchanged etc as they appear to be 2013's with new MSO's. I am actually curious on how that will work on the VIN. The 10th digit denotes the year so a 2013 is a "C", a 2014 should be a "D". So I will be wondering how they will do that with the ones in port so to speak. Vin will be a 2013 but MSO a 2014? That should confuse the hell out of the helpful and so understanding and compassionate DMV ladies.....
Haha!! You used "compassionate" and "DMV" in the same sentence! Good job, Toyboy; You win the internets for today
Thanks WC! Decorum and politeness forbid me from writng what I really wanted to say, so judging by your reaction, I think it gets the point across nicely...
Yes It is! My dealer told me that my Terra would be a 90 day wait, so they offered me a nice discount on their demo with 200 miles. Will have it home Saturday!
My dealer has a Terra on the floor: http://www.townandcountrycyclecenter.com/pages/Brochures/UnitDetail/93004 asking $5,799.00. that's $500 less than I paid for my Strada. --Chris
