Out of interest, has anybody had a good look at whats involved in modifying the IMS tank to take the FI unit? I can't comment on this as I don't have a 610, (or an IMS tank for that matter), and won't have a bike until I get back to Australia the 1st week of September. A bit silly to buy 1 just before I head off for 5 weeks! If there are any other 610 riders around Perth, pm me, I'd be keen to hook up and pick your brains about the bikes (or if you hear of a low k's late model for sale let me know). I suggest we all put an enquiry thru to RV Aqualine and Ims -those of us wanting a bigger tank. I know we may get a stock reply, but the more questions about the bigger tank = more interest in the product = more sales for them = faster development of the tank.
Ive been trying to get Aqualine to make Husky tanks for 5 years! Email em and keep the pressure on. Problems with the FI are that its big, high pressure, and needs to be 'right side up' when mounted. Modding an IMS tank just isnt an option. A remote fuel pump has been looked at, but its also a problem. Email Aqualine and let us know. IMS just doesnt seem interested, they would need a 100 tank order to even consider it. Rear tank is about as good an option as there is right now. Sad given the 610 is the best big dual sport bike made.
Hello Guymcfly: Edit - Just crossed with Mike in the airwaves - what he said! I'm not an expert, but I understand from a conversation with George at Uptite last fall that it isn't simple. Basically the IMS tank can't directly accept the stock fuel pump assembly so the solution would be to house the fuel pump assembly in a separate "mini"tank that would be plumped to the IMS petcocks. That potential solution has been proposed for awhile. Personally, I would not purchase an IMS tank in anticipation of the exterior housing for the fuel pump assembly becoming available. I'd go with a Rotopax setup until the Aqualine or the IMS solution was available for purchase. Howard Snell
I have both e-mailed RV and spoken to Robin Box. He has said the Husky tanks are in the development/making (doing my bit to prompt them I was) - but maybe if a few other interested parties contact them it will urge some more haste as it were.
I have sent several e-mails to aqualine over the past seven months, would really like to have at least five gallons. Until then I am strapping on supplemental fuel when out in the desert.
Well done! The more of us that contact them, the more the will understand there is a heap of us wanting tanks; and the quicker they'll get something out for us.
