Went up to our cabin for the first time this year with my nephew, Robert. Got up there late Friday afternoon and unloaded the trucks, went through all the little things you have to do when you open it for the first time since end of last summer. Cooked dinner, sucked down a few adult beverages and got an itching to ride. By this time it was dark and when I say dark I mean pitch black up there. So we went for a little night ride. I tried to record it with my helmet cam but it didn't turn out too good. Next morning I woke up early and went for a little ride by myself up the Gold Lakes Hwy. Took a dirt road and saw some cool scenery. Came upon some snow drifts More Scenery Nephew got his F150 stuck They were painting the sky all weekend Gotta run for now, have to finish this later.
Reminds me of Mariposa where I grew up,,,,,,BEAUTIFUL,miss the sierras and the trails!! Great pics sir!!!
Thanks, I didn't do a whole lot of s/t up there but it can be found. The dirt roads are endless, though. I did do some trail riding on the way home as I took the long route home and stopped in Downieville. Got a couple hours of very fun trail riding in there but no pics to prove it. Here's the lone Downieville pic. more scenery from Gold Lake Highway. more fake clouds in the sky Eureka Lake.
What part of plumas county is your cabin in? My brother in laws family owns the Polk-a-dot in Quincy. His grandpa was one of the founders of the portola railroad museum. That part of California is one of my favorites. Ever go to the Fourth of July fireworks at mill pond in graeagle? If you have you would understand.
Yes, I've been up there during the 4th of July and couldn't believe how many people were up there partying. Graeagle was hoppin' for a tiny little town. Our Cabin is just up the road from Graeagle in Johnsville. It's actually a little past the town of Johnsville, (which takes about 20 seconds to drive through) where Johnsville Rd. turns into a dirt road. It's back in there a couple miles. It's pretty remote up there, you see a couple quads or those trick dune buggy thingy's ...Polaras Razors or something. Here's a cabin pic Yeah, I'm a Quad tard on a rare occasion. Our Brute Force 750.
awww damn you guys! My grand dad rest his soul had the coolest double wide in Portola. Family vacations, my cousin and me getting busted for all the teenage stuff, but best yet, my uncle had a suzuki pe250 that was at my disposal and my cousin had a elsinore 125. Logging roads, ponds, lakes, meadows. If I only knew how special those times were. Had a bunch of pictures too. Damn I'll prolly be up all night looking for them now! That area is awesome. Been to Greyeagle too.
That's so awesome. I haven't been up in a couple years. If I could make a good living up there, I would move up there in a heart beat. Plumas county has got to be some of the most awesome scenery around. Feather river canyon need I say more.
