I grimase so bad when I watch people riding without boots I cant watch all of it, Seen way to many nasty messes even if its just a burn ect it really does make me shiver
I agree. I have a couple of friends who are both good riders (one was a national MX rider back in the late 60s-early 70s), and for some reason neither of them wear off road boots and riding pants with knee/shin guards. They favor hiking or work boots with good old blue jeans for their trail gear. Makes me cringe when we get together for trail riding.
Around two years ago I bust my little toe after brushing againts a large boulder, Speed was at a virtual stop and I was wearing a pair of tech 7s so bought a pair of Forma mx boots that are hinged at the ankle and have plenty of good solid plastic all round and give amazing protection while still staying very comfortable. Second time useing them at a local H&H I clipped a hidden sapling stump at speed and very nearly had a real big get off ! As it was I stayed on board by the skin of my teeth and as far as I can recall my right foot never even came off the footrest but somehow and I have no idea how my foot and ankle ended up in a nasty bruised swoolen mess and as I stated I dont even think the boot/foot ever even left contact with the bike Not bad but think what it would of been like without the boots.
Must admit i ride in trainers when im not at an event.. Not hurt my feet yet, the advantage of trainers is they deform and sit tighter to the bike. But the disadvantage is that the deform and offer minimal protection. I have more feel through the soles so feathering the brake in muddy conditions is much easyer compared to my boot the forma doninators those are rock solid.
The dangers of a quad @ 6:20 now those will try n kill ya. Oh i miss my kmx some times n seeing the lime green bikes brought back the memories.
WrestleMania, where was this filmed? It looks similar to some trails I ride in NW PA. Are you guys riding on a old railroad/rails to trails type thing?
Juicy even I will pop round the roads or down the lanes with a set of work boots on the rare occasion and admit I do have a bad phobia about not wearing good protection, Even seen a guy while out for a ride get in one of those strange places where the guy in front stopped and he was left with a deep 4x4 rut on both sides of himself and nowhere to put his feet down so he and KTM400 toppled over and not only did it break his leg the header left a scar thats still there to this day, In my case my dread come from when I was 17 years old and had a big off that shattered my lower leg leaving various bones poking out side the skin and my toes were touching my knee cap as I lay all beat up on the ground. The hospital that put me back together drilled holes in what was left at the top and bottom of my leg and glued a huge piece of 3/4 threaded bar to the screws, A right big massive bodge job that the surgeon tried as someone in japan had tried it on a dog and it worked, So I have the distinct fame of being the first human to have this type of opperation (common as muck now) and after 18mths I could walk unaided again and yes I was wearing trainers not that boots would of stopped the leg breaking but I very much doubt if it would of been anything like as bad and I wouldnt of spent the rest of my days since the prang walking with a limp.
Yeah that would put me off too, probably just a slow rider that ive not gotten into real issues yet. Rode in perth with shawbagga in trainers that was a right laugh i kept up with him on some sections but boots are slowly growing on me.
Thank yas for the views and you're right — boots are a must. We set a better example in other videos. These trails are in NW NJ near the PA border. Allegedly.
