Thinking of a "GUTS" step seat... new foam as well. How to cover our seats?

So I'm thinking about getting a GUTS medium density foam seat and a step add on. As well as a new cover of course.

Two things cause me to want to do this. First, I got a small tear in my seat cover in my recent nasty get-off. Secondly, that stock foam is like riding on a ROCK!

I've recovered seats before, and replaced foams, so I'm familliar with that process... what I'm concerned about is the recessed area on the far end of the seat where the release D ring is. Is the stock cover glued down to the foam there? It looks so good, I'd like to make sure it's replicated with my new cover.

All the seats I have seen from Guts, Renazco, XPC or Corbin are done with a nice recess at the rear. It is probably glued down with 3M contact spray cement. Not sure though.

I've got some of that super77, it's good stuff. I kinda figured that was the case.... so essentially, If I replace the cover, I have to replace the foam? I had planned on doing that anyway, just curious.

Got a Gutz cover and soft foam on my TC250.

The instructions say to glue the foam down. I didnt.

The dimple in the seat lock area: no glue needed. The fastener holds the cover down in that place. To remove the fastener just pop off the washer on the bottom. I like to install a very thin (home-made) nylon/plastic washer between the fastener and seat cover too prevent chaffing.

After/during install, make sure you keep the rear corners neat and tidy or it will make it hard to reinstall the seat due to excess cover material.

Foam and cover can be replaced seperately.

Also- if you want to glue the foam down, try a craft store or home depot for special contact cement just for foam rubber. That way it sticks it to the pan w/o eating the rubber.

I went with the soft tall stepper for my 510.

I dropped mine off and they installed it for me and I picked it up the same day.

I'm sure they will do it for you if you ship it to them.

Mine came out fine.

much better than stock for comfort, not as comfortable as a renazco

I used it in Baja for a week and i was only a little bit sore a few times (100-200 mile days, with lots of sitting), I was also wearing padded bicycle pants.
