So......my wife surprised me with a 2015 YZ250FX for Xmas. She totally surprised me. I had mentioned in October that the new 250 FX was going to be a sweet bike. Apparently she got the hint. I already have a 13 TXC310 in the garage. I have really enjoyed the bike and would rank it as the best bike I've owned and raced. Other than a radiator hose leak caused by rubbing on head it has been reliable as a tank. Changed oil after every ride and really took gooid care of her. Here's my dilemma.....I don't need 2 small bore thumpers. I also own a KLX450 that is pimped out and it is used for our faster races and trail riding with kids. I sold my 2011 TXC 449 after I bought the 310. It had super low hours and had ZipTy suspension, JD tuner and a bunch of other stuff on it. Guy I sold it to is selling it now. He only put about 15 hours on it since he had it. I contacted him and asked if he would be interested in a straight across trade. He's all over it. Here's what I'm thinking....trade 310 for 449 TXC and then sell my KLX 450, which has 36 hours on it, and replace it with 449 TXC. I'll be able to sell KLX pretty quick and get most of my money out of it. I don't really remember the 449's power and handling traits. Also how is the reliability of the 449? It has a total of 44 hours on it. If I do trade I'll buy ZipTy's oil kit for it. You guys think it's a good trade and will I be happy with the 449? Plan on plating TXC and using it as an adventure bike also. WhWhatl you guy s think?

By the way.......the 250FX is one sweet bike!! I thought I was in love with the 310 until I rode the FX. Only have break in miles on it but man......is that motor sweet!! Feels like it has a big bore in it. Feels lighter than the 310 TXC!! Ergos for my 6'4" body is perfect. Has almost zero vibes thru handlebars. Yamaha hit a homerun on this bike!!

Ha ha such dilemmas, plate the 449 put some warp 9 motard rims on her and have a blast. That yam 250 would do everything you need off road, best of both worlds. I just bought a 14 yam 450 and its a beast of a bike. Riding a sm on the street is some of the most fun except throwing a leg ove my YZ 450...

The 250cc bike (at ~300 hrs) you sold me is still kicking butt .. That's the best I got for you on that question other than go get that yamaha! :) ... I'm gonna buy a 125cc 4t 'big bike' they made this yr maybe to take some of the BS riding load off the Huskies. You just don't need a high-performance bike for every ride. It's only taken me ~5 yrs to figure that out.

Pull the trigger Fire! My 449 has never let me down and just earned me a finisher pin in Round 1 of the NHHA yesterday. Get the PCV from ZipTY with one of Tinken's maps and the IMS tank for mileage and hold on tight!

It's a done deal. Doing trade on Saturday. At least I don't have to spend any money fixing it up other that Zipty oil recovery dodad. Suspension has already been massaged by the legend Ty Davis. Get on ride it!!
Sad to see 310 go. It's been the best bike I've ever owned as far as handling, motor and suspension. Hopefully the YZ250FX will be just as good or better. I have high expectations from it. Can't ride it for a month. Broke my 5th metacarpals on my right hand Wednesday on ice. Had surgery last Friday. 7 screws and a plate. That 310 motor was sweet!! It's a shame it was discontinued. Husky had a good thing going with the red head.

I agree, the 310 and 250X are like twins and really no need to keep both. The 449 or rather a 511 would be a good compliment. Both will need a good bit of work to get them sorted but it seems that is already done for you! Good luck and enjoy:cheers:

I went and looked at a 250FX and was shocked how tall and big it felt.

I am and it makes other bikes seem big and clunky but even so seemed large and was quite tall. I was tippy toe on it. The shrouds are big and wide.

I got the 449 with zipty oil recovery . The oil changes a little trickt but theres a thread on it so once you've done it once its a 15 minute job.extra 300ml + of oil is another bonus.I just got back from a 8 hour ride in snotty 8 degree celcius weather.I have'nt had the bike long and have'nt found its limits yet. Got a call from a potential buyer of my motard wheels to put on his 511. He says his mate has absolutely thrashed the living daylights out of a 449 and its still going strong.
I also want a wr 250 f for a second bike i will get the suspension sorted and have full road registration on that also.I owned a 02 wr 250 and a 07 wr 450.The 250 was so much better up to 120 kmh.
So i think you make good choices mate.
