These clamps annoy me. I don't have the install tool and always struggle to get em on and off... What do you guys do to remove and replace? Is the correct tool the only answer? I'll usually replace with a "normal" screw type hose clamp if I have one lying around, but sometimes have to reuse these friggin snap things. Here's a pic of the little devil clamps and tool.
I just "gently ruin" them with a pair of snips/wire cutters/pliers/screw driver to get them off. Replace with normal snail clamps (as above) or fuel line clamps for smaller applications.
Never knew you needed a tool for those OEM clamps ... I guess that is why once I removed them, they were tossed and replaced with a normal type ...
We use SharkBite hose clamps which are a little different than the fittings you listed. Ours work well because they apply equal pressure around the hose. You can pop them off easily with he same tool to put them on or just by cutting them off with dikes. http://ecdn.liveclicker.net/0079A8/cdn/videos/1354/58804_1_liveclicker_iphone.mp4
The general consensus is that nobody likes the snap fit clamps. I do as you - the tool is a pair of snips, remove that thing and replace it with a threaded clamp
Yeah, I like to replace them with a worm gear type but if there isn't one handy I have reused the OEM with one pair of pliers to compress and another to snap it together many times.
