Interested in starting a project. I have always wanted a vintage Husqvarna and this one has been posted on CL for about 2 months now. It's a 1979 Husky CR125. I honestly don't know a whole lot about the vintage bikes other than what I see on here. How does this bike look overall? Are parts hard to find? Does everything seem mostly original? I was thinking of stopping in and seeing it in person. I was also hoping I could haggle him down on the price maybe around 1200-1400. Is that a fair offer for this bike or is the original asking price decent? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys! Tony.

Looks decent overall, most parts are fairly easy to find, I'm sure some one that has one can chime in on the original look. I see you have a 449 , I bet you will be dis appointed in power unless you just want to putt around with your kid on the tank... Its probably still there for a reason and the biggest reason is that is a 125 , I would not mind picking one up for my 15 year old daughter.

bike doesnt look too bad...price should be knocked down unless owner is firm..
this is only my personal opinion, but im not not real keen on swede small bores. the 250 is a much better choice...either way the chassis will handle great and the bike is narrow with typical swede quality. parts can be found as well, just as easy as anything else from that age.
what are your plans for the bike? just playing around maybe you would like the 125. if you have plans to compete you may not. its not that i do not like 125 bikes, swede 125s didnt stack up real well even back then. there are those here that love them..

congrats on thinking about a swede tho...they are the real deal!

I agree with Justin, but I'll take it a step further, I've never ridden a 60-80's Euro 125 that impressed me. It's up to the individual though.
I see it's in a bike shop, I'm sure he's negotiable on the price and if it's been there a while, he just could be very negotiable!

Thanks for the input. I was a little worried about it only being a 125. Worth takin a look at though. If anything I would be attempting a full restoration or as close to it as I could get. Have a fairly big backyard and would mainly just putt around the neighborhood.

That's how the addiction starts. Ha ha, Only take 1200 and if he don't take it, you won't be in it to deep at least . You gotta be willing to pass it up too.

$1850 will buy you a 390 of that year in that condition, absolutely no way I'd pay that price. Thats a $1200 bike at most like 84scrambler said.
