Throttle body replacement alternatives

Hey guys, just bought a 2010 Te510, the bike starts up but when you hit the throttle it cuts out. A shop diagnosed either a bad throttle body or a bad ecu. I think its a throttle body more than likely or perhaps the sensor.

Has anyone had a similar issue? And are there any reman/aftermarket options for a new throttle body that isn't $500 from oem???

I went through 3 throttle bodies on my 2010 TE310. IMO they are a poor design that separates easily. I used some hefty cable ties to hold the throttle body against the head but a single backfire is enough to cause them to fail. I sold the bike which fixed the problem.

Thats not helpful at all lol did you pay oem prices each time or where did you find the best deal on them?

LOL - I did pay OEM from my local dealer. Approx $100AUD ($70USD) each.

You can see the metal plate is smooth and the rubber boot de-laminates easily. The plate needed a ridge or groove to "hang on" to the rubber.

Anyhow, the part is relatively cheap. Keep your valve clearances in spec to reduce backfiring and you'll be fine.
