I am wondering the purpose of the roller chain guide on the top side of the chain above the swing arm pivot. Can anyone enlighten me? It doesn't make sense to me to put anything in the tension side of the chain. Also, it is fairly high up. At what time would the chain come in contact with it - full suspension compression? Several have posted the need to gusset the attachment point because it breaks. I can understand that there would be a high force there if it ever did have to deflect the chain under power, but I remain at a loss as to why. ???

many/most dirtbikes have upper chain rollers - for when you're bottoming the rear suspension
