How fast have you guys taken your TR650s? I didn't get this bike to be a highway screamer, but since I commute at least one day a week, there are times when I'm on the HOV lane when I need to go above the speed limit to avoid trouble. I normally try to keep it right at 65, but this past week, I was not comfortable with a situation and decided to speed up to about 85 in order to change lanes. I was surprised at how effortlessly it went up those 20 mph and I'm pretty sure it would go over triple digits.

I also noticed that its very smooth at 65. Buzzy at 75, and smooth again at 80+.

I hit 113 once, wouldn't make a habit of it. My bike tends to start wobbling at higher speeds.

106 and the wobbley head shakeees told me to cool it, it does like 80 all day long if you can find a decent stretch of deserted road

Had the wobbles at about 85 on stock Strada tires so didn't want to push above that. With a tkc80 front the wobbles start about 72 to the point where it gets scary sometimes so don't go above that now. Anyone have success with a stabilizer for that high speed wobble?

Steering stabilizer tames that well. Few bucks...but this is the bike i will run into the ground. Truth be known it will probably survive me...

I normally install a stabilizer on every bike I buy, but when I found out my only choice was a GPR I decided to ride it & see. I'm running knobbies & this one is stable past 100 mph, not at all twitchy off road. If I decide I need a stabilizer, I will make a mount for a Scotts.

I'm running a Madstad windscreen and Barkbusters on the Strada and I think the combination of those add to the wobble. I can't remember a wobble before I added those but I only rode the bike stock for a couple days trying not to get blown off as the wind slammed me in the chest.

The way it is now I feel I gotta try a stabilizer since I really can't go above the low 70s and feel at all safe.

IMHO something is wrong with your bike if you cant cruise above 70 comfortably. Steering head bearing adjustment, rear wheel alignment etc

Yeah it definitely could. I checked the rear alignment but it looks fine. Other people have said that some hand guards cause a wobble so I'm wondering if that added to it. If the wind is strong straight on my handlebars start to wobble back and forth and that gets worse with speed, and staying behind trucks can be scary which others have also said. I'll really look over everything and see what can be done, but at least the wobble doesn't start at a speed that I legally need to be going.

I had some Zeta handguards on my crf250l prior to selling it. I removed them prior to the sale, and took it for a ride on the highway. It was much less wobbly without the handguards. I guess they act as a sail when you get up to higher speeds.

Just throwing in my two cents. My bike doesn't wobble at all up to speeds of 80mph. However, it did before I added my windscreen. That installation stopped the wobble for whatever reason.

Strange that adding the screen would help and not make it worse but maybe the wind hitting your body was slightly effecting the steering. I got it up to about 80 the other day when it was calm out and that's when the wobble started, it really seems to depend on how strong the wind is. For the record, I have the somewhat large Barkbusters Storm hand guards on so yeah, my best guess is they are acting like sails but then others seem to have no issues so I dunno. I still plan on adding a stabilizer soon so I'll see how that goes unless I find something that's clearly wrong with the bike when I try my best to go through the mentioned ideas.

My new top speed 118 MPH. I think it may have a little more in there but ran out of straight. Not sure how accurate this speed is being I did not have it on GPS just the dash reading.

Bike has stock gearing PCV w/auto tune, pod mod and Brisk plugs, GPR duals.

The wind dynamics is a good point. When I put mine on and got the shakes (above 85 mph into the wind on wrinkly concrete slabs in LA), I realized the center of gravity moved from the bar weight ends inside to over the hand grips due to the weight distribution of the hand guard weight, even if it is aluminum.

I am going to take my Zeta plastic shields off and see if is the center of gravity more or the funky jet stream of the plastic grips. But the grips should be solid without those cheesy uneven holes (not exactly Givi aerodynamic product design quality.) It doesn't stop the wind anyway, so a detraction of slipstream would be highly suspected.

For me, the shakes specifically into the wind direction points to the wind being the largest culprit, even before experimentation (doah!) Thanks!

Yeah wind angle definitely seems to effect me. I put the GPR stabilizer on a couple weeks ago though and it has made a world of difference. Like others have said, you can't really describe the difference a stabilizer makes but it's something you feel immediately. The bike is amazing now and it's by far the most important mod I've made, very much recommend.

Reached 140km/h, 87mp/h today when driving back from the Dealership. Faster than that and the whole front starts to wobble and I don't even have handguards yet. It was a windy day here though.

This is the biggest jetstream PERFORMANCE option you can get.

Now I have a large and medium size Axio bag. You better get them, or at least one, while they are still around: there's nothing else close on the market now, before, and maybe never will be (for some unknown reason, other than the 'Man' does not like motorcycles riding stable and vibration free at high speeds.) The Kriega 25L R-25 bag sucks above 85 mph in vibration in handlebars and shakes (tail draft resonance?), but is good less than that or on your feet.

The Axio Forza (bottom bag below) is sold in Europe ebay for about the same price as I got a new used one here. It's a medium size bag not sold in US originally, and is actually better quality than the slightly larger and more expensive Axio Swift 2.0, top bag below.

The biggest and best hardpack made, the Axio Swift 2.0 - the top bag below, is here and there but edging higher in price. I still have one after 8 years of bicycle sweat in FL, and 2 zipper lives, so I'm getting a new one before they all disappear (and mine needs at least $80 shoe-shop repairs --> bicycling with heavy text books in 90 degree humid weather in the FL Sun is Hell)!

The Swift 2.0's available now usually have Commercial Name brand marketing on them (or they were hacked up by a creative genius Harley owner :-) The interesting thing about the Yamaha bag is Axio First worked with Yamaha to determine the 155 mph max stable limits of the Axio bag. Up to 100 mph, no sweat!

These were made to also protect and carry my 15.6" MSI super thin Ghost GS-60 laptop, when required. You will FREAK out when you ride with an Axio bag over 85 on the expressway (going with traffic, of course, for safety!)

Had absolute 100% success with the GPR on my Terra. Running Karoo 3's, I got a terrible wobble around 135 kph, that made me swear not to take it beyond 110 kph until I got it sorted. The GPR completely cured that bad trait and it is rock solid all the way up to 170 kph (fastest I've tried it)

    Cheers

Hit a new top for me on a 4500km tour across Australia. 154 kmh (96 mph) with medium sized screen in upright position, barkbusters, top box. Should probably get more with less wind resistance. Wasn't shaking. Mitas E07 tyres.

Edited to correct speed after viewing GoPro footage.
