I was going to go, but a group of us are riding from Mitch's in Campo to San Felipe and back that weekend. Depending on time, we may stop by to say hi on our way back through on Sunday. We will be riding through that area. -Blake
Bitchen course. Love to ride that post race, backwards.... mmmrrraaaaaap! But in Mexico? How come all the cool rides are going so far down south from me?
cmon pv, my crew and I have driven to victorville and back to San diego for a 1 day "purgatory" ride. And another "area 51" ride on another day (with the 9Lives crew from T Talk). also driven to Az and back for a nat enduro. and blasted up to the Lucerne zone for 2 H&Hs last year. These rides are worth the drive.....(and that is always how I think of them, as fun rides on bitchen marked courses) PS apologies to Ajax for non-participation in the H&Hs this year, just too much time and effort and $ to maintain the perfect finisher score. PPS the 1st Nat will be epic with rain on the dez plain
Yeh, hear ya- been there, just makin' excuses fer being too lazy and cheap to getta passport. Course looks like tons-o-fun though.
any other huskys??? I think a few Mexican Huskys will be there. I talked with a couple of husky rider guys last time in Tecate at the taco stand. looks like eastern conditions again,,,arm scraper rocky trails with,,,rain or at least still very moist!! epic conditions for a tecate single track ride. Local shop C&D cycles San Diego is sponsoring this one and we should have a good Brux rider crew there.R
let the fun begin, hope i get a better start than the last adventure in tecate ""We just finished the last minute touches on the course. The dirt it's in amazing state. No dust, no mud. The weather forecast calls for no more rain, and sunny on Sunday The loop it's just shy of 10 miles. We are going to be working on the Endurocross section and pits all day tomorrow and Saturday. If I have a good connection in Sta Veronica. I'll update some pictures tomorrow night. I hope to see you all there. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tractor Racing "
Roberts FFFFFFFFFing clutch...again perfect conditions, normal mid pack 40 class (10 riders) start, started working up towards the end of L1, By L2 had the fastest 40 class lap time L3 was P1 in class, stopped for 1 gal fast pit leaving into L4,,,still in lead............ffffing clutch starts acting up,, coming and going from 0 to good,,,,start hitting the uglies with no clutch can feel my time going through the roof, trying o hammer through rock sections in 1 and 2nd for no stalling.........pop stalled a bunch of times and had to use my hot start (1st time in 2 years) they were getting closer. Hit a mud pit with no clutch and buried the ffffing bike in it, started and tried ramming into 2nd to get out and the 400 series numbers started passing me,,,used 3 big sticks nder the rear wheel,,it was in up to the axle, got help from another rider (thanks for some real help!!) pumped up the clutch and got it working long enough to get out and chase my rivals,,,hit more of the uglies with no clutch again and stalled about 5-10 minutes from the start finish,,,,,,got lapped by Ron Wilson (solo Baja 1000 winner) while stuckon a rock with no fffing clutch. The other 40s did not get lapped and did 5 laps i got in 4 and ended up P5 but had the fastest L2 and L3 in the class. I was never tired except for after the mud extraction but started railing after the others. This race/ride was just as good as a ride could be. I really am sick of my on again off again cazzo di frizione!!! It did ruin my race today. Our extended crew did really well Jimmy B P1 open expert (he is in his 50s) C&D Cycle owner Steve P1 intermediates, Cyril P1 Nov,,,,,Ron W P1 overall open pro (40 year old)
This was the best course under the best conditions I think I have ever ridden. Very challenging but not stupid hard It was a brilliant event well prepped, organized and it came off very well, with immediate results, great infield enduro cross spectator section. The chase riders even did course maintenance during the race, ie threw up more ribbon in missed turn zones, and did 40 ft reroute around an endless mud deep stream bed as the race went on. alot of it was under tree canopy, lots of the usual steep rocky up and downs, wet running stream beds, some sandy stuff, BLACK Loamy dirt!! green grass meadows and usual reddish tan baseball rocky stuff we have around here but ZERO(99% no dust) dust. There were 2 pit lanes seperated by course sections,,,well I can go on and on. It was 9.9 of 10 for sure. There were course monitors and checks throughout the course but no stop or slow down checks, man just a perfect set up for 10 mile loop trail ride/race. Thank you Tractor Racing!!! You guy rock!! And they even issued nice (3 each), 3 digit one piece Monster energy number stickers at sign up. @80% fresh single track!! RN
Sounds like you had a great race except for the clutch. I read the TT threads as well. What are the plans for the clutch? Did you start a thread in the 4st forum about it?
pulled the (New)master apart, found only that the fluid did bypass the seal, there has been evidence of fluid around the end of the cylinder. There was almost no fluid in the reservior that is why the clutch was come and go. the cylinder looks perfect. but I am not happy with this thing, its so friggan simple, there should be no leaking the only vent is on the reservior cover the rest is a completly sealed simple hyd system. Thought about putting the master piston on lathe and cutting 2 grooves in from of the end seal to put a couple of o rings to give a 3 way end seal, just need to watch amount of cylinder friction this creates, what a pain! Or just live with the fact that the Magura master does have slight bypass issues and remember to keep the res. level up. Cmon Magura its 2010, do I need to re-read the 1960s Triumph tech manual that has some great "if your oil leaks from your forks just remember to keep it full" nothing about why how much etc.
mr baja ron wilson had the best(smartest style though the pool) feet all the way forward (dry!!) and sitting on the seat above the water........ my feet/boots were soaked, so much for the splash and dash theory.
ps concerning any mech issues, it still remains the job of the rider/racer /crew chief to inspect and repair or service any of the machines parts or hardware. If I had checked the fluid I am sure that it was low from the start,,,I could have added fluid to it and kept the beast up front.
