#1-Anyone installed the coolant temperature sensor from TT on this bike yet and if so, where did you put it and why? I don't want to chop a line until I've got more info.

I'm thinking of installing it in the RED circled horizontal hose as it's got the longest length of fairly straight hose. I don't know what the state of the coolant is at that hose due to the contraption circled in GREEN, which almost appears to be a valve or.....?

Any thoughts, suggestions, lessons learned are welcome, otherwise I'm installing it where I circled in RED.

#2-Tach sensor wire. Have you all used the "wrap around the plug wire" method or gone to the coil's spade connector? This one I can experiment with if needed.

Can I ask why you want to install temperature sensor?

I kind of installed it in a hurry on the 2006 510 SMR and didn't bother with the temperature sensor. I couldn't find a hose that appeared to be long enough or straight enough and didn't really want to mess things up trying to make it work. I never look at the speedo on the KTM (my trail bike), so I doubt I would even notice if it were overheating before the steam starts spewing.

As for the tach sensor wire, I used the wrap-around method and I can't say that I care for it. I must need to calibrate the unit to tell it what a high rpm is, because all the thing does is blink the yellow warning light at me all the time. Its really annoying at highway speeds.

I'm glad you brought this up, though, because I have been meaning to explore the idea of using the wires that were going to the stock speedo. I'll have to at least look at that spade connection you're talking about.

I like to know how warm things are in different conditions. Hell, if I could I'd take an oil temp/pressure reading. Just used to having that info on other vehicles.

I don't think you need to know the water temperature. We always just put the overflow pipe up in front of the petrol tank where you can see it steam away when the engine boils. Then you know to let engine cool down a smidgen.

I would prefer to have a warning if the oil pressure drops. With such highly stressed engines with less than one litre of oil. You can destroy an engine and gearbox real quickly if you loose oil pressure...

2007 TE450, TT Vapor. I put the rpm wire to the coil spade connector. No problem after following directions.

Maybe the "greeny" is a thermostat? Parts fitche .... would identify.

Hey ioneater, I'm curious where you ended up installing the sensor. I just picked up the same unit for installation on the same bike.
