• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Trailtech Vector Problems

I have a Trailtech Vector computer mounted on my 2005 TE450. It came w/the bike when I bought it used in 2007.

Into about the second season of riding the bike the computer would randomly show all characters on the screen. It usually ended up happening after 20 - 40 miles of riding. If I reset, it would go blank then come back on but be reset to 0 for trip distance. The speedometer function seems to still work.

I sent it to Trailtech to repair for about $50. Not sure what they did but it eventually started doing the same thing last year and this year. I have changed the battery several times but that doesn't seem to help.

Could it be something in the wires from the sensor/magnet up to the computer causing it? Water in the computer? It doesn't always happen when it gets wet. Lastly, I only run it on it's internal watch battery, not the bike's battery.

Is it worth keeping or just get a new one? I rather save the money for new radiators or something else in the future but hate losing my trip distance.

Save your $$$. I've gone thru two Vectors and my riding partner has been thru 3 Vapors. Great looking product that is not worth the headach.

Thanks. I sent them an email direct yesterday and they responded quickly. They told me to hook it up to the bike's battery instead of relying on the watch battery. The tech person thought this would stop the 'scrambling' of the screen.

I'm going to try this weekend.

Are you guys getting them wet or something? What are you replacing them with?
