Pastrana was so enthused about Straight Rhythm and its open class, he mounted a 500cc engine on a frame made for a 400cc engine and declared his appreciation of the 32-rider, free-for-all format. He posted a video on Instagram, and fans went wild for the monster bike.

"Every rider who has a little bit of flair loves this idea," Pastrana said. "Riders who win races more on endurance, this isn't really their event. This is about flair and going for it. It's a one-lap deal. It's completely different. It's a 100-meter dash as opposed to a marathon.
"It's all the fun parts about racing and none of the boring stuff."

Not sure on all the details of the bike but the article mentioned it was an open class bike he's gonna ride ... And that article is from 'USA Today ' web site... His name seems to be helping get the message out into the main stream news.

Been reading the snippets for the last month, not too many real tech details, but my money says Suzuki 500cc 2T from the old the Quadzilla quad 500cc engine on the RMZ 450 chassis. 100% Suzuki. 100% FMF. 100% TP199 super show.

The Bike is built by Sevice Honda in Indiana. They build the aluminum framed CR 250s and 500's as well as others. AJ (owner) is one heck of a bike builder.

Looks like a Honda motor with the emblems ground and polished off the cases, I like the 100% Suzuki idea Rob, but that Quadzilla motor was really a turd and would be way weaker than a current 450, if that huge lump could even be made to fit!

He has huge name pull, but I don't see him doing better than 10th (which is still fassst!). Time marches on and he's been out of it for awhile. I see him more goofing around, having a good time, pulling backflips and stuff.

Great to see him doing it! Should help pull for the event!

That sounds like something to do for my b-day. I remember when that guy showed up to what used to be known as free style mx events. It was a new thing for guys who didn't make it in superctoss or just hadn't been discovered yet. I worked for a production company that was just getting started and stood in the center of the arena with a camera. He was even younger than the early members of metal mullisha. That was when they all showed up in their own trucks and had no clue they'd be selling t shirts, hats, and doing x games down the road.

I was ring side by the whoop section the last time he raced Daytona. He had the crowd flipping out as he WHEELIED thru the whoops till he finally endoed but got up with a big smile then tried a back flip on the finish line jump, which didnt work out. I love this guy and can't wait to see this new venue.

And some interesting names show up in the 250 class.....

    From Racer x:

Filling out the first half of the 250cc Class are Marvin Musquin, Justin Hill, Zach Bell, Jessy Nelson, Nico Izzi, Darryn Durham, Jordon Smith, and Ryan Surratt. The inaugural event will feature 32-riders facing off in a bracketed single-elimination format, racing on a 1/2 mile-long, “unwound” track.

Time for the big leagues for Ryan Surratt. Nico Izzi should be fine since you get a breather after a bout a 1 minute sprint....

Now, if only they could get Jlaw to play nice, and Austin Stroupe to put down the .... I won't trash him here fill in your own sentence ending....

    And last week's news.....

SANTA MONICA, CA – The first eight riders have been confirmed to compete in Red Bull Straight Rhythm presented by Dodge Dart. The eight names are just the first of thirty-two riders that will compete in the innovative, head-to-head motocross competition on Saturday, Oct. 4 at Auto Club Raceway in Pomona, Calif. The prize purse has been set at $100,000.
Action sports icon Travis Pastrana, 2012 AMA Motocross champion Ryan Dungey, and one of the most accomplished motocross riders in the sport’s history, James Stewart, headline this initial list of eight confirmed participants which also includes Josh Hansen, Josh Hill, Brett Metcalfe, Cole Seely and Dean Wilson, all racing in the event’s Open Class.

I gave this a little more thought ...Rhythm sections are what ruin SX racing as they must be executed at a precise speed. Not too fast OR too slow. That is not racing. Maybe it will be better but expect someone to try to out jump someone ... yawn ...

Good luck to all the young riders and TP199...

    --
Make that line an un-rhythm section and then see who can ride it .. At least it has whoops ...And TP199 is the show here ...not the track
