Sounds like he can just almost be ready for the outdoors' season (May 16th) but he'll most likely start without alot of practice time and his conditioning with be in question also ... -- News release Team Honda HRC’s Trey Canard underwent successful surgery today at the Oklahoma Sports Science & Orthopedics (OSSO) in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to repair the radius in his left arm that was fractured in a crash during round 12 of the AMA Supercross series at Detroit’s Ford Field on March 21. During the operation, doctors applied a carbon fiber plate, replacing another plate that had been applied in November 2013, following a different arm injury. In addition, doctors inserted eight screws and performed a bone graft to ensure optimal healing. With an estimated recovery time of six to eight weeks, the Oklahoman will immediately begin rehabilitation in preparation for the AMA Pro Motocross Championship, which begins May 16. At this point, Team Honda HRC has no plans to use a replacement rider during the Supercross series. Trey Canard: “The surgery went really well, and we’re hoping for the best in terms of recovery time. The doctors said it will likely be six to eight weeks, but we’ll have a better idea after seeing the X-rays. I start physical therapy tomorrow and am going to do everything I can to get back to action as soon as possible. I’d really like to thank everyone for their love and support.”
these guys are healing machines (like all the top tier racers like motogp as well), for reference one only needs to see how Trey returned from the ugliest of SX injuries from that land on him incident a couple years back.
So the bone broke where it had been previously plated. That's the down side to Dr's being so quick to cut guys open and plate bone breaks. It shortens the recovery time but it also leads to other issues. Our bones are designed to flex slightly. (Think of how your rib cage expands with every breath.) When a bone is plated with steel it creates a sheer point. Trey's arm might not have broken if not for the existing plate he had in there. Perhaps that's the idea of using carbon fiber this time. It should flex a bit more than the stainless steel they usually use.
Canard update: we expect to see the #41 on the line on May 16 for the 2015 Hangtown National. It took about 1\100th of a second for me to say, give me the drugs ... Bye
I went to Glen Helen this past weekend to do my once a year motocross race both the 2 stroke nationals and the Loreda Lynn qualifier were going on at the same time so there were a lot of people there . What I noticed and I made a comit to huskynoobee was look at all the people here with broken legs, broken arms people on crushes and in wheel chairs ect. Then we went out for practice and both of us came back and said did you see all the people on the ground. How can so many people crash in practice. Then in the first race some one crashed off a jump by the start so before race # 2 they had a tractor come remove the hard jump. I use to race MX back in the day and I really did not see that many people get hurt. Now we go much faster on better bikes and fly much higher, but if you come up short it is going to hurt. I have raced offroad now for many years and do not see the accident I see at the MX track and GP tracks. Heck look at all the kids that want to do freestyle. How many of them get hurt so bad but what the heck they are on youtube Now a day I really enjoy King of the Moto and Last dog Stranding stuff speeds are slower and it is more about endurance then speed.
I am 8 weeks post-op from fractured radius with titanium plate ( which will be removed in 1-3 mos). Feels pretty good but not much strength. Starting rehab immediately he will lose less strength in that arm and hand. Most of the time they want you to wait 6 weeks for rehab. I still have swelling in the hand which i attribute to the plate....don't know for sure though. Good luck to him.. ETA up here in Mammoth you see the ambulance make a few trips a day to the lifts. Ortho surgeon says he does 10 breaks on a weekend. See all sorts of folks with a cast, young, older, kids, women men....doesn't seem to be exclusive to any group.
Or maybe Billy Bermshot has decided to Gas on it and hope for the best, triple jumps really? It is more of a circus than Mx. These guys are maybe not as good of riders as in history , their career depends on insane speeds with a high flying act. I watched the twin shock MX in England and wowzeer what riders; always in control. Cowtrailing i guess can hurt ya too it has me a time or two. No more soap box for me.
There aren't many old motocrossers but there is plenty of old off roaders and enduro riders. Mike Brown is the only one I can think of past age 40 to race pro mx. Trials is probably the best old man way to ride a motorcycle IMO. At age 52 I'm already drifting toward technical skill over speed type of riding.

He just won an endurocross race recently as I recall - beat out some younger very talented riders. A couple of years ago he won the ?Tennessee Knockout (I think that is right) as well. Pretty amazing at his age!
Think the world or Trey- What a geat ambassador to two wheels, and example of positive energy driven by our Lord- Jeaus Christ! God Speed in recovery! We love you Trey!
