Got a new truck, a long bed GMC. I'm thinking I want to put an easily removeable fabric tonneau cover on it, the kind that rolls up.

    Any recommendations or ????

I have had several different covers and shells. My new favorite is the fold-a-cover, and it is pretty secure but they all leak a little water.

I always worried about the security of the soft covers.

I had/have a soft roll-up cover for my nissan pickup and it was just ok. I don't recall the brand but it had a plastic lip that locked onto the frame all around. Kept all of the weather out but one thing I didn't like is that if you waited until after dark or it was at all cold outside you could forget about getting it back on after having it rolled up. It turned into more of a pain than anything else.

Maybe someone could make something like that which turns into a bike ramp.

Hi glangston! What did you got for your truck? I'm also thinking of getting a truck bed cover or an Advantage Torza tonneau cover for it. What would you suggest me to have? Do you have pic of you truck's cover?

I have an ARE fiberglass top for my 2005 GMC Sierra Crew cab. This is the 2nd truck I have had ARE brand on (2000 Toyota Tundra was 1st).
Pros: I work in construction so it's nice to keep my tools & belongings out of sight, out of the weather & locked. I clean my truck bed out & it works as a great place to sleep, along with an air mattress for those long weekend rides. It's painted the same color as the truck with some lines that follow the trucks body & styling. It's waterproof, no water enters the bed no matter what.
Cons: It's heavy, 2 or more people if you want to remove it. If you need to carry a large item such as furniture of a large TV you'll need a trailer. Motorcycles don't fit in truck bed (thanks God for the Versa Hauler). It's painted, don't let your buddy's throw a bunch of items on top of it, it scratches. Pricey, mine was almost $1000.00 painted & installed but it is the most watertight, lockable, easy on the eye cover out there. My .02, G\L

Got a Pace Edwards roll-up aluminum cover. http://www.pace-edwards.com/Full-Metal-JackRabbit

Also got the rails on it that take rack hardware by Thule so I can carry some things (kayaks or bikes for me) over the secured stuff beneath the cover. Works pretty good and there's even two rack options that you can get for work trucks that will attach to the rails.

I have a Speedstur hard cover lid on my Lightning that I really like. Since I travel two hours each way to ride, I use a Moto-Tote instead of having to drive at 55 mph in the slow lane while I tow a trailer. And since the riding areas are sometimes way up in the boonies, I like to lock my tools, extra gas, ice chest and gear bags in the back where they won't be stolen. It sucks, but there are riders that rip off other riders.
