Total Husqvarna newb here. Does anyone have first hand knowledge of the motor / performance difference between these 2 models? I rode Droolsports 09 TE 450. Overall great first impression. I would need a bit more juice off the bottom, some ergo tweeks ( mainly high feeling footpegs / low seat ) and probably stiffer springs.

I am really looking forward to mixing it up a bit and putting a Husky in the garage (next to my Orange one )

The TXC has more punch and the suspension is better as well. You should find a way to try one!

The TE is a softer (motor and suspesnion) more relaxed version of the faster and lighter TXC race bike.

If you don't need the factory license plate my choice would be TXC.

However, where I live the re-sale value of bikes with factory license plates are better... but many people keep the bikes 'forever'.

I wish I could find one to ride. What is the difference in the suspension components? Y are they better?

I had heard the '10 TXC would be an FI. Looks like a carb model to me. Bummer

The 2010 TXC250 will be efi, the 2010 TXC450/510 will be carb. I suppose it comes down to preference efi vs carb.

My 2006 TE250 has a carb and works great!

I just have the bug for a FI 4t to make into a dualie. Looks like the TE is me. Can the TE make TXC power?

Couldn't tell you for sure if the TE will make TXC power, but I can tell you, when you "uncork" the TE from it's stock setup and tune the FI with the IBeat or a Power Commander, you will improve the performance yer looking for. I'm guessing Droolsports bike isn't quite broke in completly as he's only had it a short time. These bikes LOVE miles before you can claim to have one truly broken in. I'm not even close myself... If not mistaken, the biggest differences in the two should be found more-so in the tranny on the TE vs TXC ie. close ratio vs. wide ratio. As for suspension, since your a KTM guy (I have been for years as well)it's like riding a KTM SX vs. EXC. on the trail. I believe the TXC's have a twin chamber fork which is probably great for MX/SX riding, but definitly going to be stiffer on the trail. Not sure about the shock, but again, safe bet it's gonna be a firmer ride. For AZ trail riding and what not, I'm MORE than pleased with the stock suspension on my TE 310. I'm actually right at the right weight for the springs that come stock and as I say, really pleased with the handling thus far. Wish I had more for ya, but either bikes gonna be a kick, that's for sure!

Other than the fuel delivery system. I have been told that the only differences in the motors are that the TXC has a high compression piston and lighter flywheel/crank wt.

carby is every bit as good as Fi bikes.. mine is 05 te510 and uncorked and jetted. goes like stink and will spin up in every gear with me on it ! (80kg fully kitted) and hauls big time ! ktm has longer gearing for sure . i run 14/50 for forest.. and goes like a rocket ! i am sure 450 is similar...ps, proper suspension setup by a pro will turn the bike night into day ! regardless of weight of initial /new bike setup...

IIRC the cams are different too. The TE motor mirrors the SMR motors....minus the countershaft.

Although the TXC is no doubt faster than the TE, I highly doubt the TE450 won't have more than enough power to keep the OP happy all the time. I too would prefer the TXC power band, especially on the 250, but the plate just makes the TE irresistible.
