  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TXC310R Radiator Guards mod

Additional I zip tie the rad louvers onto the rad guard cross bars, so they don't come off on the trail.
Note also this applies to TC250,TXC250,TE250, TE310---all the X-Lite platform bikes.

How about the Radiator and rad brace contact points? I was installing a set on my 14 txc310 last night and I am a little concerned about the long term affects of the chaffing at the contact points? Mostly on the backide of the rad where the virticle tubes make contact with the brace.. Anyone have some input?

I do like the Swiss Cheese detail I may have to get on that. ASAP.. Thanks..

Haven't you defeated the object of using rad guards by drilling and weakening them though?

They are still plenty strong, nothing is ever crash proof but for sure that are still very tip over crush proof, which is all you can expect them to be. They are mostly there to prevent side impact crushing of the rads, if you hit/spear something directly......they may or may not save your rads.
As for the chafe question, I had some concern as well, there are a number of direct contact points between the guards and the rads. I have not seen any issues over many years of using these type guards. If you think about it they are both secured on the same plane at the same locations, so I would think that working chafes are minimal because of this. For sure keep everything clean to keep abrasive dirt and sand away from chafe potential parts.
But from many years experience with these type of guards....and many hours of use and racing I personally have not seen a chafe through issue

I have installed this type of radiator brace on many bikes and never had the vertical tubes come in contact with the brace. You may need to make some adjustments.

I like the 7602 radiator braces, I think they can be modded to run the stock air vents. Ty's radiator braces are without a doubt the lightest and are still very strong. His are designed around racing.

Yes, we designed our braces to be used with the stock plastic vents. Or you can add the front guards if you prefer.
