I wasn't in the market for one, but I'm seeing MY14 TR650 Terras for $6500 on line. Really? I'm hot to replace the '09 KLR with one of these. But I'm leaning towards a Strada. Can I get one in the US? What's a good price to pay for a new one?
I paied 8200 OTD for mine, which was more than I expected, but it was the bike I wanted. Taxes, title, and registration bit me. I live in WA, USA and got the Strada ABS. The insurance on these is pretty cheap, too. It's made a great commuter/fun-time bike.
Stratas here are 6500 OTD currently. Tags title delivery included. If I didn't have a Super Tenere I would consider one.
Strada sale price $5599 (don't expect to find that low again though, I'd gladly pay more) + sales tax +state license & registration fees + dealer document fee $65 NO setup or shipping fees $6293.26 OTD
I have never had more fun on any bike. Every ride leaves me giggling like a kid. I test rode the Terra and didn't like it on road at all. Little squirrly. The Strada I just fell in love with.
Mr FabOneUp In US reality, the difference between Strada and Terra is really ABS. Wheels are interchangeable anyway.
My Strada ABS is also the best bike i've bought for a long time. Made a few changes to her but all the better for it and now runs very nicely. Paid £4600 ($7560) but was very cheap considering the retail here was £7250 ($11915) but American prices are good at the moment. Thing to consider is the ABS is good if you need it but never have used it in emergency, but it does get in the way of things like bush guards, riser blocks etc.
Why thank you! I accept the compliment, but I'll eventually take my Strada on offroad adventures. I get a kick out of doing more with less so I may not even put on DS tires or a spoked front wheel. People have a hard enough time keeping up as it is.
Yes, and I really like the fact that I could turn my Terra into a super sweet street bike with just a wheel swap. Though I plan on riding dirt for at least another 30 years if all goes well with my health. I am going to delete this post in a couple days so that those trying to sell there TRs don't get too ticked at me. But you are a CafeHusky member and I just want to share my thoughts. Something snapped in me last month (Well two things, I broke my collar bone too!) when I came to reality that I owned 4 discontinued bikes. I thought it was kind of cool at first, but after having several parts backordered and discontinuation issues (Buell) it is starting to wear on me. My TE511 is tore apart in the shop waiting on a backordered radiator. I love my TR and it and the 511 are bikes that I can source some of the parts from BMW, but there are many people here that have been waiting months for parts. Just consider this before you send that KLR away. Do NOT get me wrong. The TR is my favorite bike in the garage and I have many many adventures lying ahead for her. But I also bought it when I thought it was going to be around for many years to come from BMW/Husqvarna. If they were still making the TR and I had full confidence in KTM/Husqvarna, we would be having a totally different conversation. I just don't have that confidence yet.
Halls has a Terra in stock---> http://www.halls-cycles.com/default...etail&id=475008&p=1&make=husqvarna&s=Year&d=D
Since I already have a TE 511 I really don't need another dirt oriented ride. I commute a lot on my bike. The KLR is fine for that, but not that much fun on the twisties on the weekend. The supply issues are definitely a big let down. I really wish KTM would just come out and say they have no intention of supporting the Italian bikes. If they did that, there would probably be a flood of bikes on the market. Then I cold pick up a second 511 on the cheap as a parts bike!
I hear you and understand your concerns, I also (occasionally) think about my long-term future with my FABULOUS Strada. However, consider this...my friend waited THREE MONTHS for a replacement 2010 Multistrada 1200 radiator just 1 year after buying it new. Luckily, he had a 2nd bike to use otherwise most of his summer riding would have been missed. That same guy (back in 2006) waited SIX months for replacement parts for his 2003 Triumph Trophy 1200. He ended up buying a replacement bike so he could keep riding. My point...any bike could have a wait-time to get parts, although I suspect that the Euros are worse than the Jappas. If I keep my Strada I will make it MY responsibility to keep it going.
I hear you as well. I realize this can happen to anyone with any bike regardless of anything. I am just a little ruffled because it is happening to me a lot lately and as a TR owner who has waited up to 7 months for a part, I feel it necessary to pass on my concern even though I love my bike. Once the 511 is back together and I am off and riding it again, I will forget about all this and grinning ear to ear.

The only ones I could find were the ebay chinese models. People have had good luck with them, but I just don't buy chinese if I can help it and it isn't leaking, it's just a bit rough from being bent back into shape so many times.
