I had a set of Pro-Taper Universal clamps laying around as well as stock Tomaselli bars from my husband's TXC 450 that were removed for CR His. To me, the stock bars on the 610 make the bike look incredibly cheap and are also uncomfortable. The universal clamps didn't fit right up, though, because they use much larger bolts. So, here's what I did. I removed the bars and extracted the clamp bolts. They are both shorter and narrower than the bolts that came with the new clamps. Also, the bolts included with the clamps have a chunk cut off. All you need to do is run up to the hardware store and get some new bolts. To my surprise, Ace had exactly what I needed. I'll edit this post in a bit with the needed size. I also got two metal spacers to take up the extra room in the clamp. Once again, Ace had exactly what I needed. If you are a careful cutter, you really only need one. To get the bolts into the clamp, you need to grind a bit off the head. It really doesn't take much. These pictures show the Pro-Taper bolt (top) and the Ace bolt (bottom) with its head shaved. Side view: Top down: Now for the spacer. I didn't want to risk anything moving around, so this spacer was almost perfect. You have to grind just a very thin layer off the outside of the spacer. Then, it must be cut. We cut the spacer into two even sections with a hacksaw and left just a bit of waste as in the diagram below. I didn't take any measurements (sorry)...we just kinda winged it. Now, all you have to do is hammer the spacers into the clamps from the bottom. The result is this: Now, just bolt everything back up. Here's the result: much nicer! The bolts and spacers cost less than $10 and the bar clamps were orginally less than $30 I think, so a pretty good deal. Here's a current link: eBay Auction
