I'm updating my 430. Since the crank seal on transmission side failed, I've decided to update the entire bike. Not only am I rebuilding the entire motor with a new rod, main bearings, a fresh bore, and new piston. I wanted to give the bike a modern feel. I fitted the bike with basically a 2014 front end. The forks are off my 2014 300wr. The front wheel and master are from a 2012 te. The rest came from a 2014 250txc.

And I added a set of IMS pegs

They're from Huskyjunk. But they will only fit up to 1985 and the 86 430 autos. My bike started off as a 1986 430ae.

i was under the impression that all pegs 82ish forward to the end of the Swedes were interchangeable

Had to cut the heck out these pegs to adapt to our huskies. I took these down to machinist and had material on bottom removed to allow a
full swing on foot pegs. Cant imagine hitting a root or rock and are not fully swinging back. Still working out on fitting proper springs

What do you use husky jim on the springs ??

These foot pegs are great. But can rip your boots in a hurry

I borrowed the springs off my 87 430 sitting right next to it and they seem to work good.

And I agree with not enough swing. I think a little filing on my frame ends will help some.

86.5 or so until the end of swedes have a bit different angle of swing compared to all the earlier swede pegs. thats why i was curious. no one really makes aftermarket pegs for the last swedes..

thanks for sharing your peg info...look forward to hearing how the build works out!

Interesting resto-mod... that's got me thinking what I could do to my 430's....

    Good to know.
I have a pair of those IMS pegs, used them on my old 85 500 AE.
I was thinking about reusing them on either my 87 430 or 88 430. I was wondering what peg options were available.

yup, we are left to custom mods if we want bigger pegs for the 87-88 models..

Only problem with the classified is they rarely have any classic stuff so no one looks and then there it is no point putting anything in them

i look there every day along with everywhere else. its annoying when someone joins here just to sell stuff, and along with a classified ad spams threads trying to sell the same thing.
its just as annoying when someone joins and wants to know all kinds of stuff about their new husky. turns out they are just wasting our time as they just want info or a free appraisal so they can sell.

what you do is send your stock pegs and some mid 90s jap bike pegs to this guy in Mercer Pa and he cuts, grinds and welds the whole mess and TADA pegs

I did a little grinding on the frame end tabs today to get a little better fit and more pivot. I also held them up to my 87 and they are just a little narrow 1/16" to fit over the bolt sleeves on the frame ends. A little grinding might do the trick but I think you would also need to grind a little on the tab too.
No big deal if you don't ever plan on using the stock ones again.

hmm, the problem i ran into was the angle of the bolt hole versus the flat top of the footpeg was different. this is comparing pre-86 to post-86 pegs. the ims pegs look good. let us know how they mount up. this bike has an 86 auto frame right? if so i guess it wont have this issue

ya, it's a 86 430ae frame. I adjusted the angle of the flap with the grinder to get a better fit, and more pivot.
I don't think with these pegs the top flap is even necessary. The bottom of the peg rests on the frame when level
I double checked the angle and it's really close and should work. What do you think?

From underneath you can see the peg now bottoms out on the frame end.

    pegs4.JPG

    The angle should be OK!

    pegs5.JPG
    pegs6.JPG

The older pegs used a different tab with a different angle
