this will be a great international MX show! (sorry no Husky presence, yet....) maybe ,,,a MX2 TC250 wildcard rider can make the show.
I miss the days when MX3 ran the same race meetings as MX1 and MX2, with guys like Everts racing all three classes!
Husqvarna will enter professional motocross in America only when it is fully prepared to do so at a level that has potential to yield positive results. Currently we are not in that position. Please consider that what you see as professional motocross in terms of participation by the Japanese manufacturers is done at a level that cannot be supported on the basis of what they make off the sale of motocross bikes. In other words they lose money by competing in motocross and have done so for decades. We are not in a position to follow the same strategy. We are looking seriously at the future and will step up to the plate once we can put forth an effort that make sense financially and that can be done so on a very high level. The last thing we want to do is do what KTM did. spend a lot of money only to prove that we weren't competitive on the U.S. national level.
Great post Husky Relic. While I would love to see Husky jump into the Nationals and SX, like you said it just isn't a reality now. I have always laughed at the ol "win on sunday, sell on monday" saying. If that were true then Suzuki should have sold out all their bikes when they had Carmichael racing. Honda shouldn't be selling anything right now, since they haven't won much in the last 10 years. But Honda is still the number 1 seller, and Suzuki 4th or 5th. Racing is basically expensive bragging rights.
Racing is basically expensive bragging rights, I second that factual motion But man is it fun...but costly, hard, time consuming and often very frustrating....
Man is it ever!!! The cost, time, frustration and difficulty make all the more fun in the end. :ride:
... lol ... Does the word privateer mean anything ? Racing is advertising ... Advertising sells bikes ... Racing sells bikes in the usa ... MX / SX racing is the biggest sales platform going ... To miss this GH event is a total joke ... EU comes to town and Husky is not there? sad... I hoping some hard-charging american stud shows up and rides hard on his Husky ... even though according to many here, he will be on an inferior product ... lol ... KTMs? KTMs now have all types of rides ... from 9 yr olds to 45 yr old guys who weight 250++ lbs going down trails at very slow paces ... This was not the case about 5-6 yrs ago when all I saw on KTMs were the super fast guys ... They have a following now and of all sorts ... Also, the last desert 100 race I did last year, I saw only 2 Huskies in it. Mine and some other guy .. .The red plastic was a no-show I never saw the stats but I was really shocked to see the low number ... Thanks for the inside scoop on what 'we' are doing though I'm sure it will all work out in the near future .... Husqvarna and bmw with take over the market in the off-road area, dual-sport area, they will continue to win at supermoto and will enter the mx and sx markets in the usa when they can afford a winner .... I'm a sunshine pumper at heart really :0 ) ... yawn ... PS -- This crying about $$ and these multi-million dollar companies is getting a little old ... Husky \ bmw needs a VP that likes MX racing as much as supermoto stuff ... then we will have plenty of money .. lol ....
Here ya go Ray Ray.... I'm not quite at the hard charging level you need but GH does get a Husky on their podium every now and then... just me on my inferior product... T
Nice pic! And I beg to differ on you not being a hard charger!!! ... It must be really cool to set that trophy on the back of your Husky at such a bad a$$ race track! This is one to keep for the ages!
I can tell you right now that if Ty Davis were able to suit up and race this USGP he would not only qualify in practice for a good gate pick but he would overall in the top 10. To bad contracts get in the way of showing what a Husky could do in the motocross world. Local riding experience says a ton in an event like this that puts some fast Europeans onto tracks that they have never riden before. I was fortunate to race the '87 250 USGP, the '88, '89, and '91 500 USGP's all held in California. '91 was at Glen Helen and I was racing under a Luxembourg FIM license so I was automatically seeded into the event. (Not a good race for me, had some flu) The other GP's I raced, the AMA always needed local privateers to fill the 40 rider gates (because it is expensive for Euro GP privateers to fly themselves and gear over) and only sometimes held a qualifier to seed the non GP regulars if there were more than 40. I agree It would be great to see a local privateer on a Husky go out and gas it and beat some Euros.
So what other Cafe Husky members are thinking of going to this race? I am starting to do a little planning to make it out for this race. It will somewhat depend on which American riders decide to show up whether or not I make it out there. I never turn down an opportunity to watch Cairoli race. That guy is pure style. But making the trip to Cali just to watch him and a couple of other really fast Euros might be kinda hard to justify. Of course if Stewart, Reed, Poto, Windham and a couple other americans decide to race then it will be a different story.
slight change of direct, Colo moto dont forget the MXof N is in your neck of the woods later this year.
It's been marked on the calendar for 6 months already!! I'm super stoked about that one. The MXdN is my favorite race of the year. Very unique atmosphere. Always lots of fun.
We are investigating the possibility of entering Bobby Garrison.........stay tuned. I tried to talk Ty into it because I think he could do real well............stay tuned. Brad Lackey, Kent Howerton, and Billy Grossi are ready to go as well. CAFEHUSKY WILL BE THE FIRST TO KNOW
More MX GP stuff more MX GP vids and material, for Glen Helen motivation! http://www.mxlarge.com/video/3628-moto-magazine-video-mx1-mantova-madness
Relic, Excellent let us all know if you get some Huskys on the starting line at Glen Haulin USGP. We can definetely get a Husky cheering section going with some air horns and a banner on the hill. Its going to be great out there. Just the color that a International event brings is incredible. Come on out Cafe Husky folks and be prepared to see some unknown Europeans smoke some of our National regulars. These kids are unbelievebly fast.
