What are you guys paying for the Terra in the US? Price here in Canada is $7999 for the Terra and $8499 for the Strada. Terra puts me at $9100 OTD and they dont sound like they will budge do to only getting few and feel that they will be presold anyway. Posibly, once sittn down doing the deal might get me couple hundred off if I'm lucky, maybee.
Mine was $6,999 plus something like $250 freight cost to get it to the dealer. I bet the prices go up with the demand.
paid msrp / list in California, but I bought the first and only Terra at the specific dealership, so far.
Dealer cost on Terra is just over 6400. I know Ridersville was at 6500. Got mine for 5XXX(don't want to say exactly but do the math :-) Mine was used as a Demo at dealer show in Atlantic City (before Sandy)and they gave the dealers 800 off if they wanted one. They had to take it by the VIN assigned to them, not by picking the nicest one. Some were "used" and dropped etc. I got lucky, mine was as new and only had 150 on the clock. Did not even realize how good a bike it was but for that I took it and I could not be happier!!
Hi Delmatino, where in Sask are you located, I am down in Moose Jaw and as far as I know there are no Husky dealers in Saskatchewan. I was really excited about the Terra, but when the Canadian price was announced and I realized I wouldnt get one for less then 9K OTD I started looking at the KLR's again, not as excited about them, but dealer support is close and I think I can get a new one for less then 6K OTD. Saving 3K and having a dealer within an hour of me rather then 8+ hours for a Husky dealer....probably not a bad way to get back into motorcycles after a very long hiatus.
I'm in Regina...Yea you're right about the dealer thing. Inconvinient but not overly concerning for me. I do all the work myself, so the waranty is the only isue. I work in northern Alberta majority of the time so I can throw it in the van on the way. As a mater of fact I will be doing that anyways because exploring the back country up there on my days off is one of the reasons for getting the bike. My debate now is between the Terra and KTM690R. I know It's like comparing apples and oranges but which ever I get will be used like a supermoto on twisty mountain roads (down across the border), some major long adventure trips (Baja, Coper canjon and Alaska) and just simple exploring of norethen AB, SK and BC. I plan on running 2 sets of wheels on whatever I get. I decided on 17" 19" for street and quick basic off road and 18" 21" for heavier off road use and those major adv trips.. I like everything about Terra accept the weight. After installing all the add-ons that I need and/or want will probably put the bike in the 435-440lb range. Right now my striped down SV1000 is bit less than that and my DR650 was 365 (stock wet) if I remember corectly. The KTM690 is 320 wet so with the add-ons will be 350-365 max. This is a huge difference perticularely for off road. I'm doing as much research as posible till the spring than I need to at least spend some time looking over and sitting on both bikes if I cant take them for a spin. Test ride would be ideal and may have to go out of my way to get one, which may mean going across the border to do so, and in that case will buy it there too. KLR is suposed to be a good work horse and in the situation may be your best bet. Got to worn ya tho, after a while it gets to be quite the toaster. Supose it depends on your needs and likings. I chose the DR650 over it several years ago but since they have upgraded the klr completly. I understand that it is a pretty good road bike with midioker off-road abilitys...I could be wrong. One thing tho, Bikes are about passion so always buy from the heart and not the head/logic. I'd rather ride nothing than somthing that doesnt sterr the soul...After 35yrs of riding/racing and 60+ motorcycles this is one thing that stands out more than anything V
Where are you finding this 'official' CDN pricing? I e been told by Our local dealer the MSRP would be the same as US, but have not heard any official word. It's a shame and I think it would be worth going state-side to get one, even if its to piss off the CDN dealer network. I'm getting tired of being screwed as a Canadian consumer when our currency is darn near close to par.
HI Planepower, I got a notice through email from one dealer that stated the MSRP in Canada was $7999 for the Terra and 8499 for the Strada. With tax and "fees" 9K sounds about right. The dealers up in Edmonton have no stock yet? Kinda wondering when they will arrive in Canada, if I can't get a smoking deal on a KLR I am going to look at something else. Terra or maybe even the Sertao if one can be had for a reasonable price. Sertao lists at about 9600 up here, can you get a good deal from a Dealer on a 2012 model? I don't know so many decisions...Ha Ha.
You are absolutely correct. I've only been riding 26 years but I know this to be true If I'm going to swing a leg over and risk life and limb pursuing my passion, well, the steed better be up to the task. Life's too short and precious to ride a motorcycle that doesn't do it for me.
Echo cycle in Edmonton. Thet just got the official word last week. $9100 OTD is what he gave me for the Terra. If I get one from the US dealer for $7000 OTD Im looking at $250 for X-border paperwork and $350 in taxes and expense of couple hundred in travel which brings the total to around $7800. Still a $1300 saving if theyr not willing to budge. This is a lot off acessories. I'm tierd of it too. And theyr wondering why so many shops are closing up and bike sales are taking such a dive.
Do it, and yes, that's who I meant. Very disappointed. Looks as tho ill be getting mine from US as well. The GF and I are planning on Vegas in the new year, guess ill be buying a bike there as well. Any dealers in the are care to chime in?
You guys have to be careful, I don't think that Husky is on the Riv list of acceptable motorcycles to import into Canada. I am not sure that it can be brought into the country. I know you can bring a husky dirt bike across easily, but a bike that can be licensed has to be on the Riv list....do alittle more research, and if you can go to the states to buy one I think we should load up a truck and go on a road trip! Probably get a great deal on two or three of them.
Amen to that! I paid MSRP ($6999) at Eurosports in Asheville, NC, and didn't bat an eye. It's been all fun and worth it.
Valid point, I'll have a look into that. But, the CDN MSRP is to be $8000 Terra, $8500 Strada. I was told that's the price we pay for being Canadian lol and because of our healthcare system LMAO! I laughed at that reason!! Then the dealer went on to say we have a better standard of living than Americans and have to pay more. Again I laughed (Yes, we are in an economic bubble here in Alberta, but c'mon...). Then it was said our tax structure is what brings the price up. Whatever, I'm rather disappointed with Husqvarna Canada. Perhaps I'll forego that dream and pick up another manufacturer. Just checked the RIV list. It lists BMW as a manufacturer and all models eligible. Now what does the manufactures label say. The older bikes were MV Agusta.... ( which is not on the list).
Ok we're screwd than...BMW will want $750 for the recall letter. They do it on all thair bikes. You can import but you can't Lisence without it. most Other manufacturers dont charge anything.
Dalmatino please watch what you are typing. Maybe read the rules once again for Cafe Husky before posting again. Cafe Husky Rules
I'll apologize for Dal. I get his frustration, and we don't really have much avenue for change. There's an arrogant attitude here amongst dealers (cars, motorcycles or appliances). It seems to me that the way our system is set up here is with a distributing company, that leads to additional costs over and above what the US lists. It's very similar with oil, electricity and telecommunications. Those are protected corporations that have direct access to government for competition protection. I wish we as consumers had more choice but it seems yet again we are stuck with what is shoved down our throats. I hope this doesn't violate CH rules. But the thread was started to see what you Americans pay across the nation. As our dollar is on par with the US (unlike a few years ago we were around 75%). This price declaration may give us Canadians a chance to negotiate.
Any dealer can get you the letter. I have done it with a BMW I sold to a nice guy from up there. I can help get one through my dealer if anyone needs help. Cost you a stamp.......
