W.E.R. steering damper equipped Team GICO Paul Whibley wrapped up the 2009 GNCC XC-1 pro division. Paul also won the 2009 OMA championship with a perfect sweep winning 10 out of 10 events. He is a terrific guy and we have been providing steering dampers for him since his days on the WEC tour as a member of Paul Edmondson's Honda team. It is a great accomplishment for Paul and the whole Gico team and should be a big encouragement to other potential sponsors outside the motorcycle industry. Sorry Drew, but I gotta add a shamless plug here. Not about your experience, abilities, and bling from oh so many 6 days, but just as a motorcycle industry businessman. At the GNCC at Unadila, I saw Drew out in the middle of no where on the track rooting his guy on. I saw Wolfman Webb taking photos too but never saw the owner of Dunlop, Answer, or Can Am (the series sponsor) out there. What I mean is above and beyond support and respect for the guys he has slected to support. He also is now Husky mounted and was rooting on the Husky faithful too. I have used the same dampener from him since 1992. Routineley rebuilt and stll good as new. What he said about customers preference is so true and also true is his point of because of the WER unique mounting location the dampers will work fine with any gas tank or handlebar option you may choose. It has never let me down since 1992 except for when I got the 09 310 and did not mount it for 2 weeks (my bad). His suspension seminar and personal tuning at the gathering this year was cool too. He would watch you then if neccessary take a zip on it himself to confirm/deny stuff. I am hapy with his services he has provided to me for over 15 years and cant wait to see what suspension stuff he has in store for 2010 as his nephew Ben rode a KYB equipped 2010 at this years 6 days and has already gotten some of the scoop on them from a fine upcoming world class rider. Hats off to Paul too.........great rider and under the mentorship he got from "Fast Eddy", what else could one expect. (Sorry, I am a huge Edmonson fan too) It was s treat to see him ride at the world famous Unadilla track this year.
At one time I was sponsored by WER, and I remember how helpful the whole crew is. I also remember riding with Chris at an ISDE qualifier when he was riding a very cool XR 250! Interestingly enough, I let my WER damper go when I sold my last Gas Gas and picked up a Scotts, since I was no longer racing, had no help, and tons of people were raving about the Scotts. I have to say, the WER just works, right out of the box, just the way I want it too. It took me months of fiddling with the Scotts to get it right, and it still isn't what my WER was. I miss it. I'm glad Drew is out there with us, and riding Husky, and helping great riders and sportsmen like Paul. I'll be making a run for the ISDE in 2010, and since I'm starting over basically, I won't be getting much support, but it's worth considering bolting a WER on my ISDE bike.
I have been a Drew Smith Steering Damper owner since 1992 as well, kind of odd there Joe. My shameless plug on Drew Smith is by chance I got to go WEC in NY in '07. From what I have heard Drew had a huge investment in setting this up with a lot of money lost on the deal. Turn out was not near as big as it should have been. I have made it to the '94 ISDE and the MX De Nations at Budds and neither could hold a candle to the up close feel of the WEC. It was such a cool time and I am so bummed that we will not see another here for a very long time if ever. I will remember that NY event for a lifetime and from what I have heard that would have not gone over if it was not for Drew Smith getting involved. +1 on what Joe said and just wanted to say Thanks.
Thanks to N.Y. wec attendees Thanks Everyone and A special thanks to everyone who made the trip to either of the WEC events we held in N.Y. my involvment working on those events was the high point of my life. Raisrx251 dont despair we demonstrated that the WEC events could be held successfuly in the USA and I'm sure we can get those events back as the economic climate improves.

The Dogs name was spike he died at age 15 about 8 years ago he was A kerrin terrier only about 15 pounds but had ATTITUDE! Blip Blip is the guy who created the logo, my wife and I always have had alot of dogs so he said we should make the logo a dog, it makes me happy everytime I look at that logo.
