Does anyone else want good quality radiator guards for the 610? Tired of everything only being for the little huskys? Well here ya go.

Paul at HDB turned me on to Mohard and it a nice solid product. He's got them on at least one of his bikes. Since then I've been pestering Dan at Mohard Racing to get something together for the 610. Since he used to have one back in the day he is sympathetic to our status as the redheaded stepchild that most companies wont take the time to design for.

Check out their stuff - http://www.mohardracing.com/index.html

I've been working a little with Dan at Mohard Racing to get radiator guards made for our bikes. They've now got the plans and drawings just about ready to go but haven't pulled the trigger on production and final testing because the number of 610's is so small............... I asked how to get it moving and he said that if there were a solid indication that at least 10-15 other people would be interested that it would be motivation to make it happen.

So..... if you think you're willing to spend for a quality product and like what they have to offer please send Dan an email at info@mohardracing.com and let him know.

Do you have an idea on the cost? I'm in perhaps we could do a group buy.

I'm presuming the cost will be the same as the other guards at $219 in plain aluminum. Yes it's pricey, but not worse than getting stranded, a DNF, or a new radiator................. I put bulletproof ones on my KTM and I think the mohard design is better. Of course I did destroy one of the BPD ones......... :D tho I don't know that anything would have saved it......

A group buy isn't going to save money on this deal but it might make the difference in whether or not it gets made and made in a timely manner.

My thoughts on the grope buy was to get the ball rolling. Lets see how many chime in to see how many we can order.

    No I don't know that.

I'm about to give up on Motosportz....... in the last week I've called, PM'd, and emailed then called again........ nothing. This time specifically in quest of a Rotor. I asked about Guards to fit the 610 back on 11-15-09 in the Motosportz Talk section and it's never been replied to, not even sure he bothered to look and it's just for him.

As well, if it was designed for and fit the 610 I would think the 610 would be listed..

    From the Motosportz website
    "08-09 250/450/510 Radiator Guards - TE / SM

    Black Powdercoat

    Works with your radiator fan

08 Custom designed radiator guards for the 250-510 four stroke motorcycle (TE/SM)"

The other brands that are for huskys are listed the same including EE and Mohard. No one lists their product as fitting the 08-09 TE610. The exception may be Unabiker which lists for the 06 TE610 and looks like it would also fit the 08-09 builds but I haven't been able to absolutely confirm that. Also I don't think the basic thin brake bent aluminum guards are good enough to prevent the kind of shit I have a tendency to get into. So the cost isn't particularly an issue. Having destroyed a bulletproofdesigns guard on my KTM I happen to particlularly like the Mohard design which I feel has a greater chance of survival compared to any of the other guards I've seen. And since there's not a load of choices out there if I'm going to lobby to have one made it might as well be a good one.

I bought a set from Motosportz about a month ago. The left looks like it will fit but the right guard looks like it will have to be notched for the expansion bottle neck. I was going to wait till it warmed up a bit and try fitment when I check my valves.

Guards/braces would be nice for the redhead. "IF" anyone could make them for the E-start 610's.

Most likely the case. I don't like the idea of buying something only to have to cut it up..............

Bike Barn (Bend oregon) reports our rad guards bolt right up to 08-09 610's without mods. They have them in stock. Sounds like there is several good options out there.
