strada uses 19" front wheel with limited tyre choice. If you are after the motard image and feel you'll be disapointed.

Try with a 17" rim with appropriate rubber to see how it works.

Ah, thanks for the heads up.

You might look for a set of spokes all ready laced up and ready to go.

    They just look better:

Could find a set of stock spoke wheels for their centres then have custom made rims made to suit.

Will need to have a custom pulse wheel made for the speedo pick-up and should look at a larger front brake rotor as the smaller wheel will be spinning faster than the stock 21" item.

    Would look pretty cool though.

Thanks for those tips. I gather that some years of the G650GS have identical hubs.

Yes, the smaller wheel will be going faster but on the other hand will involve less leverage?

Terra speedo pick up is on the rear wheel. Leave it as it is and live with the error

Got a spare set of 17/21 BM wheels sitting in the garage....lace up whatever you want for the front (17/18/19/21).
Happy to let them go (after taking nearly 2 years of getting a set together from around the globe) as I doubt I'll ever use 'em.
Happy to stick to the cast wheels.
If interested, you know where to find me...
And Lightfoot in Mt. Albert can lace up whatever you like

    Thanks for the offer glitch.

On balance cast wheels and tubeless tyres are more attractive - if I can find some at the wrecker. G650GS 2011 and later according to one web post.

If your Terra has ABS and you change the wheel diameter ratios you may trigger an ABS error which will cause the speedo to stop working (temporarily). This happens when I change the Strada wheelset for the 17"/21" spoked wheels. Doesn't happen immediately but after around 100km and then repeated thereafter. It is easily resolved by disabling the ABS when I start the bike. I note that other inmates here (Riding Donkey?) have not had any issue when doing likewise. But just something to be aware of and no cause for alarm if you happen to have the same experience as me.

Thanks for the headsup. No ABS on this little red and black duck.

Solved the problem by buying a whole Strada.

A better value proposition (I tell myself).
    Geeza and nev.. like this.

Ziggy, must admit Have thought about that myself. In for one ,in for two Huskies...difference???. I would like to be able to swap wheels on the Terra for hooning on local ashphalt..you know serious road tyres and go back to chunkies for adventure.
I am patient and will wait.
I think you made a good deciosion personally but what the hey, people think I am odd!
