I would just like to advise any existing or prospective Husky owners about some pitfalls that can be had with the warranty on a bike. I bought a bike in 2009 which was a demonstration bike under the belief that it had a full, two year warranty. the bike has had some mechanical issues (leaking seal in crank) that needed repairing and when I took it in for repair, I was told it was no longer under warranty and that in fact, I didn't have a full two year warranty, rather, it was the balance of the two year warranty from when I bought it - as it was a demo. Now, the people I bought the bike off had a mixed start as to how to help me, but in the end, they came up with a solution, which in all fairness, was probably a good offer from them, but didn't fit my needs at the end of the day. I then went on to the Australian dealer and in short, have had no help and not even an offer of assistance of any kind. In fact I kept getting the runaround and saying that it was an issue between me and the dealer. (it was almost like when you have a problem with the computer and you ring the computer manufacturer and they tell you it is a Microsoft problem and you ring Microsoft & they tell you it is the computer manufacturers problem and it just keeps on going around in a never-ending loop). They have basically just hung me out to dry. The really disappointing thing was, was that I put forward a number of suggestions that would work for me and for them and they just were not interested in entertaining any of it. I could almost hear the shoulders being shrugged. I was of the belief that I bought a premium brand bike with a premium reputation and as a result, premium backup service to follow, but I have had exactly the opposite experience. It is all good and well to advertise and promote a warranty service but nothing leaves a worse taste in a customer's mouth than when that warranty and backup service isn't honoured. Shame on you Husqvarna Australia for your lack of concern about a dedicated customer and I encourage all you prospective owners and existing owners to clarify with your dealer and with the parent company what your warranty actually entails and get some specificity about what isn't covered. out of interest, I told the individual that I was really disappointed and that I would be quite vocal in putting forward my complaints and I was "advised" that I shouldn't. Let's hope the chatlines promote freedom of speech amongst us owners and with any luck, this will go right through to the bigwigs at Husky/BMW and someone, somewhere will actually take an interest in what has been, up-to-date, a loyal and dedicated customer who has always brought genuine parts and accessories and always had his machine serviced regularly and on time.

Unfortunately here in the states something like a demo warranty you would have to get in writing just to be sure you got what you were promised. Sounds like it is the same down under.

Is it that you thought you had purchased a warrantee but didn't or that you did have a warrantee but it wasn't honored? Either way I can understand why you are upset.

I guess it is kind of both. I was under the understanding that I had a full, two year warranty and if anything was to go wrong (within reason) they would cover it. I have had many cars and bikes over the years and I do realise that somethings aren't covered and some are so I am a realist in that regard but when I have been treated with such callous, disregard as I have in this instance, that is what has got my backup.

6-month warranty in the US- I believe less if you do the power up mode mods.

Sorry for your problems. Sounds like miscommunication or lack of paperwork in the terms agreed upon with a demo bike. With a demo bike here in the US, I'd be surprised to get a warantee offered at all.

Sorry about the circumstances, I can imagine being excited about buying the bike and then the disappointment when the failure occurred and finding out you didn't have the support you thought you had.

they will all try and deny your claim, it's going to cost them money to repair. I wouldn't expect a full 2 year warranty on a demo bike anyway. should have just taken the offer the dealer proposed, would save you a lot of heart ache. hope it all works out for you. joker[IMG]

Joker, as the saying goes, someone has to keep the bastards honest. If it takes me a bit of time to assist others in not trusting what these sharks say and I help them to avoid the same mistake I have made it is worth it. It is not a money issue for me. It is a matter of principle. I fronted up with my part of the bargain (paying in full on time of delivery) and now it is their turn to act on their promise. These big companies just can't crap on us. We ride, we use their product and we pay their bills. Dunno about you, but I don't like bending over and being taken by the big red and white monster!

Shhhhhiiiiiiiiiite...you're lucky you don't have the dark gray one...it's got a bigger rod...

Nah, I'm just playing, good luck with your fight jimbo
And yeah, here at the states it's six month, and the power up ends it on the spot by putting a code in there that tells the dealer you have malicious intent of racing that poor innocent bike of yours....

I am interested. Has anyone else had any similar issues as mine with being "shafted" over a warranty matter from these guys?

Not from Husky, but from Kawasaki. Similar story, too. I bought a demo bike from a local dealer only to take it home and discover a cracked engine block about 3 days later, after some mild riding (it was my first literbike, so I was very cautious). Coolant was weeping right through the side of the block. Both Kawasaki and the dealer told me to pound sand.

Now, I bought the bike as-is, without a warranty. So, they weren't obligated to do a thing for me (which they didn't). HOWEVER, they were purposely deceptive during the sale of the bike. There's no way that bike was sitting on their showroom floor and not leaking coolant.

Ususally (not compulsory) in Oz, the dealer gives you the full waranty period ie as if new on a demo. The Issue is the dealers are usually pretty good hers its the distributor who does not enjoy a good reputation for fairness. The Husky business has grown well in Australia c/w other brands and that is due to the previous 2 year warranty (now 12 months) and being a grand less than the orange machines. This type of structure will bring market share but with tighter margins. Playing the margin game equates to playing tough on customers. Fundamentally excellent strategy for short term growth and disasterous for the long haul. I think guys like Trooper Lu's or R&D Husky would be the place to buy your next Husky. These are top blokes who put customer satisfaction first and understand the benefit of repeat business and positive word of mouth.

Shrug. Not even remotely surprised. From the moment I got my bikes, KTM and Husky, I figured I was on my own. Both new and demo came with either 3 or 6 months. I would hope for some cooperation, help, or what not, but until it's in their interest enough that even a moron would get it I wouldn't expect anything to happen in your favor. So be a squeeky wheel............ make it matter to them. **edited for 5th amendment reasons**

Isn't it a shame that most people seem resigned to the "fact" that they will get poor service. I have this same thread going on advrider and thumper talk and I get a theme that all this is pretty normal. People are saying that they don't really get much back up anyway. Next time I get a bike I am going to push for a price on a new/demo bike that has absolutely no warranty. I reckon I can shave thousands off the price. Why pay for something that doesn't get honored anyway. I get what I am really paying for while hitting these importers where it hurts.

Well im from the UK.. brought a 2010 te 310. (2 year warranty here). had a slight problem with the exhaust front pipe blowing where it meets the silencer, this after one year.. have no idea why it started to blow after the first year but anyways.. took it to my dealer, and whilst it could have been fixed with some enlargement of the front pipe tooling / welding ... my dealer sent some pics to Husqvarna, and a new exhaust was approved it is not a cheap part either!! 1k+
I was amazed.. this quality service ment alot to me
i recently sold my bike, but rest assured because of this treatment from Husqvarna & from my dealer i will be buying another new un as soon as possible and i can work out if i want a two stroke or another 310!
Im sorry it appears you have not had such a good service, i would be none to pleased if i was in your shoes..
