My closest Husky dealer is 100 miles away. I'm considering a Husky, but having to take the bike 100 miles for possible warranty work would not be very convenient. I do have a local BMW dealer. Can you take a Husky to any BMW dealer for service, or only to those that also sell Husky?
Can't answer the question about the BMW dealer. But, if the Husky dealer has there prep together, you will not have a warranty issue. These bikes only have a six month warranty any way. Buy it and ride it, you will love it.
the dealer that i bought mine from is a 3.5 hr drive from where i live, but it was worth the drive, i had no waranty issues or any problems yet to date, my bike is a te 450, an 06 model that i bought new. also any upgrades that i have boughtfrom the dealer were shipped right away, never any problems. the dealer i use is halls in springfield il. you can buy a bike from them over the phone and they will ship it to you, where ever you live. so go ahead and buy the bike, you will not regret it.
After 600 miles, my bike is falling apart. Shock blew up, several bolts came out. Its going to take about 6 weeks to get parts in, and I've been down for about 5 of them already. My dealer is about 75 miles away, and it would be very nice to not have to drive all the way. I got somewhat lucky because one of the guys that works there lives somewhat close to me, so he delivered the bike when it arrived. I love the features of the bike, but everything else that goes with it sucks.
Dude, "brisendines" That sucks! No complaints out of my huskys. They are rock solid, Set up is Key....Read that one.
Who is your "local" dealer? CA is fairly well covered with dealers. You could be a lot further away in a lot of other states. If your dealer is one of the good ones you should be fine. Some check the whole bike out pretty thoroughly and know the weak points of factory assembly or small things that can easily be fixed.
My "local" shop said they didn't even have service manuals yet. One of their employees raced motocross with a husky, and they said they had to service it with guesses based on other brands.
I'm sure if you call one of the many knowledgeable and reputable Husky dealerships listed on this forum then you should have no reason to be disappointed. Sorry you have had bad luck so far but proper maintenance and bike setup are key.
no You can only take a Husky to a Husky dealer for the warranty work. I asked the same thing at my local BMW dealer and they thought it was funny as hell. They don't even want to work on a dirt bike. There is still a Husky dealer in town & seems to be selling lots of bikes. I thought for sure they might give a Husky dealership to the BMW guys, but I guess not if there is already one in the vacinity. You'll have to go to the place that sells them for the warranty work.
my husky dealer is 100 miles away. My sm450r broke after 120 miles and has been in the shop about 2 months. The crank bearing guide broke, they just diagnosed it last week because they did not have the special tool to open the case. Instead of putting a new motor in the bike husky has decided to ship a new case, jug and all damaged internals and let the techs at the shop try and put it back together. They wont even give me an estimate on when I will get the bike back
