I had to fuel the old '11' Te630 after/during a heavy rainfall and when I popped off the fuel cap, a large amount of water went into the tank! apparently it pools around the cap, how does everybody deal with this engineering marvel? I don't want lay the bike on it's side so it can drain!

I have noticed the same problem. Mine has water in the recess every time I gas up. If you remove the cap slowly and wipe around the recess with a paper towel you will get most of it. I add a small amount of gas line antifreeze every now and then as with all my fuel tanks to get rid of any water in the gas. Seems like water collects no matter how careful you are.

I've spent a lot of time riding in heavy rain and have never had this problem. Mine drains right through the overflow hose. You can even hear it gurgling out when I wash the bike.

It should be noted that not all 630 tanks came with a second drain tube (in addition to the tank vent with the check valve)
The original tank on mine had a screw plug where the cap drain hose would exit the tank, and you would have the problem described. I had a small fuel leak around the fuel pump and the tank we swapped on had the extra drain nipple and hose.

Look at the front of your tank and see if you have the extra nipple above the fuel pump or if it's capped with a stainless screw....

I have the extra nipple. There's one on my tank as well. :D

mmmm, nipples, but no extra ones. The dealer confirmed this is a known problem although no known fix other than carry methyl hydrate when it rains or when you wash the bike!

Why can't you just remove the plug and call it good? Or get a screw on fuel cap like I did.

Removed the plug with a 4 MM hex wrench. Located about 2 in below the tank vent on the left front side of the tank. Lip around filler cap will drain properly now! Don't know why some 630s have the vent and some not.
