It was one of those deals that really came together easily, and the deal was good enough that I didn't pass it up.:applause: My first ever real MX bike. :D

    Here is a hint...

It made it about 15 minutes in the garage... Time to dial in the JD jet kit for sea level instead of 4500 feet.

Matches my TXC pretty closely at the moment...

The TC will be set up for MX.

I am having the TXC suspension re-valved for all off road, super plush, no big jumps. It will be my trail bike.

My next bike will be a WR144... Time to start saving again.

I bet there will be a 20 - 25 lbs reduction of weight going from you're 2008 TXC to you're 2010 TC, which I would think would be huge on a MX track! When you get a chance, can you weigh your new steed ready to ride with a full tank of gas.

Enjoy Jake! A Leo Vince or other slip on is a must for opening up the top end. Make sure the carb kit is installed it helps the power a bit too. Ours has been bulletproof thus far with about 18 hours of hard riding/racing. I rechecked the valves again at 15 hours and they haven't budged. Ride it like you stole it!!!:cheers:

I have it with me at work today, it is going on the same calibrated shipping scale my TXC did with a mostly empty tank just like my when I weighed TXC.

    Should have results before lunch.:D

If I remember correctly, your 2008 TXC 250 weighed 249 with no protection or gas. Does that sound right? So, are you going to be racing this bike...enduro's...hare scrambles...mx?

I've never weighed ours. I've seen some old threads here and in TT where folks have weighed them. My failing brain just can't remember the weights. :banghead:

    Thanks Kreig,

Can you shoot me your Jetting specs? It has a JD kit installed, but no time was taken to dial it in.

I am not a power junkie, if it runs well and handles as good as I am hoping I will be plenty happy with it.

Actually, if it has the JD kit in and is starting and running well, you may not want to mess with it. I've got the Husky carb "upgrade" kit in mine, which included the new style bowl plug, a different leak jet, new needle, different hot start plunger, and idle jet. I also have a rubber O ring on the Accel Pump linkage. I can't recall the jet and needle numbers. I'll try to find an old post that gives all the info about the Husky kit. I remember a few guys with TC's that swear by the JD kit. In the end, it's whatever works best for the individual rider I suppose.

It is not starting and running well. I kicked it about 10 times and it didn't fire off. It is jetted for 4500 feet. I am at 45 feet. :D It came with a hot start plunger in the jd box and a bowl plug so I am assuming it has those installed.

I will probably pull it apart and set to the jd jetting specs for sea level. who knows where it is set now.

    And the verdict is...

Ready to ride with about a half gallon of gas. Has hand guards also...

The 2008 TXC was 244 before I bolted any protection on....

Whoa! I would not have thought that. You know how manufacturers tell you one number, the mags give another and you're never really sure? I never would have guessed this would be below 233-235. I'm really liking everything about this x-lite engine  If I were a betting man, I'd bet someday I'll own an x-lite 310:applause:

After a few minutes of digging I was able to find the jet specs for our TC. We ride and race about 500 to 1000 ft. consistently. Occasionally, we'll be at 1500 but the settings below do well at 1500 as well.

Needle: I replaced the original needle (P/N 800098196 needle # OBDVR) with the upgrade kit needle (P/N 8000H3009, not sure what the needle # is)

Main Jet: Replaced the stock 190 with a 185 (the upgrade kit recommends a 180, but my bike likes the 185).

Idle Jet: Replaced the stock 38 with the upgrade kit 40.

Bowl Drain Cap: Replaced with the upgrade kit cap. The original cap had two holes in the threaded section. The new cap has 4 holes.

Hot Start. I replaced the original with the upgrade kit button. But later replaced that with a bar mounted lever (from Husky hard parts). I restrict the total travel of the lever to about half with a tie wrap.

Leak Jet: Replaced the stock 35 with the 50 from the upgrade kit.

Another critical piece of our carb mod IMHO was my choice to install a Flex Jet fuel screw. I've found that our TC is very sensitive to fuel screw settings. I adjust the screw about 1/8 to 1/4 turn for each 10 degree F temp difference and it makes a huge difference in starting consistency.
