I'm looking for a decent 17 inch rear tire (MX mostly, but some CC) for my 78 250CR. What rear tire are all of you running? Thanks!

I have seen a lot of Vintage bikes with Maxxis on them. I personally think that Maxxis suck on the track on my modern Husky TC450.I switched to Bridgestone 404s and love them on the track.... don't know if you can get them in 17 though. I put on a new Trelleborg and am dying to try it !

Call Scott at Cycle Gear in Corona, California and see what he can find for you ..... 951 278 8700. He is very helpful and has rode Husky's in the past.Tell him Tim the Husky Rider referred you.

    Thanks Flamepainter!

I will probably go with the IRC VE33 Vulcanduro. Someone at the Glen Helen AVDRA race was running one on their 78 250CR and said they like it. My only other choice would be the Bridgestone M22, but it's a hardpack tire and I run on loamy and sandy tracks.

Kenda does make a K257D in 17 inch, but it looks like the Cheng Shin C755. Anyone have experience with either the Kenda or the Cheng Shin?

The Chen Shin is a very cheap chinese copy of the old standard Metzeler. Rubber quality is bad, wear rapid, traction minimal. Not worth it.

I prefer the IRC Vulcanduro. Getting hard to find, though.

    Cheng Shin C755 tires

I disagree with Picklito about the Cheng Shin C755, i've used them
on many of my Vintage MXers & they wear like iron. In fact i've
put them on my Suzuki PE400 3 years ago & used it for 10races (20 motos) & it still looked like new,so i've continued using them on my Huskys.

Plus the Cheng Shin C755 is a correct size 5.60 x 17 wider then the
Kenda version, for use on your Big bore Husky, my 80 390CR has
one on it & it throws some big roost :D

look into the Kenda Trackmaster K-760

It comes in a 130-90/17 size which maybe too much for a 250 but they work well everywhere.
