We just returned home from our trip to southeastern Utah. Wow, what a great time!! We drove all night to get there. Very tiring, but worth it to be able to start the week of riding off on a Saturday. We met our friends at White wash first. Perfect weather at around 75 degrees and very little wind (as compared to last year!) I am ashamed to admit this, but . . , I forgot our camera!! So, we had to resort to the iPhone's camera which is just so so. I was sooooo mad at myself! Anyway, This was camp up on the ridge. A beautiful view, but just windy enough we couldnt put the awning out. My girl before the weeks long rides had begun! And of course my Boyfriend. And yes, everything looks that white, all the time! We rode around White wash for 3 days, going on the slick rock, and beyond the dunes to the open desert floor. Im a little affraid of the slick rock, so desert floor was fine by me! The guys rode out to the Green River and were gone ALL day. On the last day at White wash, us ladies geared up and rode nearly 70 miles through the desert on primative roads and some "two track" to end up in the town of Moab by evening, while, the guys loaded up the RV's and dove into town and set up in the campground! It was nice to just show up in Moab and the trailer was all set up and shower just waiting for me!! This was an enjoyable ladies ride for sure! This was in a cave along side the trail. The stupid phone camera sort of ruined it. Otherwise I thought it was kinda cool. It was in the mid 80's on this day. My bike got pretty hot on this ride. For the first time I could feel the heat from the engine on my legs. My friend said it was because we were stuck behind the jeeps in the tough section. And she said because we were going really slow then. We went on local trails near town which were OK, I didnt like all the jeeps and general traffic though. This was on the "slickrock trail" with the Colorado River below. No way I would go near that edge . . . Later in the week was my favorite ride, even if it was a "dual sport" ride. We rode out of Moab up the Hwy, then up a creek canyon then a high valley. We came from that valley behind/below Then up into the trees Our lunch break at 9000ft now! Our friends had a friend, who was a local in Moab. He guided us on this ride. He knew of these dinosaur tracks that were off of the beaten path. What an amazing sight! You could see perfect prints in the solid rock, around 8 or so. Three pointy toes. Im stepping in the first two, which were the worst of them unfortunatly. I will get our friends better pictures later on! No museum, not in a magazine, not behind a fence, but right under you! This ride was 100 miles, so I had to carry my share of fuel in my backpack. My boyfriends Husaberg has a small tank, so his backpack was a Shell station! Super heavy too! It was a fantastic time. Great riding, camping, weather and time with friends! I love it! I will have more pictures as our friends send them to us!
Looks like a kick *** ride vacation! My brother and his family live in Utah now. Maybe I will make it out that way someday with or on a Husky. There are some real nice bikes in your pics, but I think you have the best one.
Great holiday TE250 Girl. Good to see at least one pretty bike amongst the rusty orange brigade. I bet the Husky went flawlessly all week too. Thanks for posting.
I hate to say this, TE 250 Girl, but I'm pretty sure our Terms of Service here at Cafe Husky says that forgetting one's camera while on a week-long riding trip to Utah is grounds for being banned! You are a bad, bad girl Luckily your phone pictures are really good so I'll show some mercy here Phew! That was close!! I think if I went to Utah and forgot my camera I wouldn't be able to stop myself from going to the nearest camera store and buying another one Some people can't control their alcohol...I can't control my photo-taking Looks like you all had a great time! I bet the ride from White Wash into Moab was fun...especially with the gals! I love White Wash! I think it has some of the best slickrock around...better than Moab, even, and a lot less crowded! I know what you mean about it being scary, though...I was about 1" away from full-on panic all day the first time I rode it at White Wash. I just couldn't wrap my head around it...I knew I was sticking like velcro but I kept thinking about how far my bike would fall if I were to eat it somehow...some of those drop-offs would be sure death if you went over the edge! I finally got over it and now it's like the Promised Land You'll get comfortable on it the more you ride it. And I've seen dinosaur tracks out there, too! Were those the ones up near Klondike? That was the most amazing thing...I kept thinking that if they were in CA instead of UT they'd probably be behind a gate on private property and I'd have to pay $$ to see them from far away Pretty mind-blowing stuff! Thanks for posting up your trip, and I'm looking forward to more photos!
looks like a awesome trip, great pics!! cool dino tracks! the phones are great ive relied on my android a number of times for pictures. the zoom sucks on them is all.
Great write up. Just love the long shots of the valleys. Can't believe there was some many orange clones...when will people learn.
Nice. Did you ride "Cliff hanger" right out of Moab, I really liked that trail, fun stuff. Need to get back down there. This is cliff hanger, you ride along the ridge of that bowl when you get up there...
I dont think so? Just Kane creek, Poision Spider, and out to Chicken Corners. Such a cool area! My Husky was perfect all week, even at 9000ft. Its Geared REALLY low so she wasnt real happy on the Hwy. It was reving pretty high even at 45 mph so I just went 40. We will bring extra/different sprockets to change out next year. And I wont ever forget my camera again Woodschick!!!
Watch out at BK and what sprockets are you running now? That cliffhanger photo looks like the lunar surface ...
Looks like you had an awesome time. I only hope to ride in a place like that some day... You guys out west don't know how good you have it with public riding areas like I see here on CH. Thank you so much for sharing and I can't wait to see more pictures.
Motosportz, I asked my Boyfriend if I rode "Cliffhanger" and he wasnt sure what that was? Though, he's ridden southeastern Utah many times? Does this trail have a different name perhaps? You and I have a mutual friend who loves this GPS stuff, but Im lost in it, and the picture may as well be in Chinese! Lol!! Cainville REALLY looks like the moon!! Im not sure of my gearing, but its as low as possible, this I know! Woodschick, Im not sure of the exact location of the Dinosaur tracks. We were WAY up in The La Sal Mountains? Here are a few more unimportant pictures.
There's no such thing as an unimportant picture! Take the one above, for example; How many times do you catch an actual cougar sitting on the rear rack of a Husaberg??
As usual --Awesome RR. I myself have been so busy riding and just having fun --will maybe takesome of my pics and put together one single ride report-- Love the places you have to ride --
