    08. Love the frame and ergos on the 08-09. Carb on the 07 might be simpler to deal with and no fuel pump but then again the 08 should run better at varied elevations.

how much money would you have to save on the 07 before you'de ocnsider it?

What are you using the bike for? Street fun or racing?
How aggressive of a rider are ya? Your first motard or are you a seasoned nut job behind the bars that pushes the bike to it's limits and beyond? Maybe you'll only be satisfied with the new model. :excuseme:

What's your budget? $1500 buys a whole lotta bling or enough wheeltape to last a lifetime. The '08 needs the power up kit so factor more $$.

using should be mostly fun possibly some track time if affordable. I guess I would have to say I want a great handling bike, albeit I might not use all the bikes capabilites alot of the time. I agree with you wetdog 1500 buys alot of gas. And I've had many street bikes but this will be my first sm. speaking of the power up kit, I'm hoping to mod the exhaust can myself, but the 08's can doesnt appear to have rivets incircling the end cap. Does anyone know if that exhaust can be modified?

There is a dealer in MN selling 08 SM510s for less than $6K new with full warranty.

    Heinen Motorsports.. ships too

The 08 can has the cat-con in it which would be a challenge to remove.. IMO

For SM, I would save the money and buy the older model. I do love the newer frame in the dirt, however!

is that less than 6k out the door or do they want setup fees etc, I'll call them if need be. but a dealer in san fran has one, with fees it would be 6,500 out the door. Do you have any idea what the dealer pays for the 08. thanks for the heads up. If i dont hear from you I'll call them.

This is my first EFI bike. I don't think I would be happy with a carb now. If the budget is there I would get an 08/09 with EFI.
