So I am happy it is getting hot, finally! I was wondering what everyone wears in the heat so you do not get too hot while riding. Now I am getting old and can not miss work for fun time injuries, so protection is important. I wear-

    Asterisk knee brace
    Six six one pressure suit
    Bohn body armor shorts
    Moose sahara

That pressure suit will keep you very hot. While it gives the best protection, it's at the cost of ventillation. No matter how much mesh it has, all the padding is being held up against your body and therefore preventing sweat cooling.

Winter months I wear the pressure suit I have, Once it hits the 60's I go with a synthetic under layer top and bottom and then a vented jersey with chest/roost and elbow gaurds. I find this allows me much better cooling as the chest gaurd does not keep in constant contact with the body and allows much better ventillation.

Knee, elbow, chest, kidney belt. Plus the usual boots helmet etc.
In the summer I'm out riding very early 6am-7am always done before noon.
Very few riders out that early, you own most of the trails. Still pretty cool out so you're not sweating...to much.
And when you roll in at the staging area around noon when it is very hot out.
Everyone else is gearing up and you're strip'n down while have'n a cool one.:D

One trick I found when it gets hot out is to put my chest protector on under my jersey. The extra air space that creates seems to help keep me cooler. It feels kind of wierd at first but I get used to it.
I wear boots and knee guards with Fox riding shorts.

I have Sahara gear, and always wear elbow and knee pads. I always wear my chest protector and elbow pads under my jersey, with a coolmax t-shirt under that. And EVS airtech 'monkeybutt' shorts.

I like the cleaner look of the jersey over, but more importantly only the jersey gets muddy, making cleanup easier.

I have a set of vented riding pants and jersey. I try not to wear a kidney belt as it is like a heater for your mid section.

I use a 661 Core Cooler....under my Leatt and under my shirt..... works amazingly well.... significantly reduces your core and head temperature.... reduces head sweat immensly .. didn't believe it until I tried it....

    WOOOOOOOW !!! what a difference.....!

I've tested mine several times at 108 degrees to 114 degrees at Glen Helen Motos in July and August here in SoCal . One hour Motos.. hard to not get dehydrated in that kind of heat .... this works./helps.

I also use a 661 Core Armor but in this kind of heat your crazy to wear it as it will dehydrate you almost immediately as your body can't let the heat get out......

Love the Moose Sahara gear. Best vented gear I have found yet. Also gotta have a big Camelback. Just remember to drink when you stop or when you hit a easy section of trail
  11. Here's what I wear....keeps me from losing a lot of water and also works great for in case it rains.

If it's going to stay under 85 degrees and I'm planning on riding any asphalt then its leather.

If it's going to get hotter then 80 degrees then I wear a Marsee textile suit that has giant zippered vents on it and I avoid riding during the hottest part of the day.

Either way I also wear a pair of Sidi Crossfire boots and leather supermoto type gloves.

  16. Speaking of lightweight apparel for summer wear....

I just got my Acerbis Koerta pressure suit today.

I really like the black fishnet. It makes me feel tingly inside.

Seems like this thread is more dirt oriented, but I wear full leathers, back protector, padded shorts, boots, gloves, helmet and anything else I can find.... everytime I get on a bike.... no matter how hot. I can rehydrate quicker than I can grow skin.

Yep, same here when I'm going on frisky street rides. I'd rather sweat than bleed.

I really like my Moose Sahara jersies for hot weather dirtriding, but I'm not crazy about their Sahara pants. I prefer over-the-boot pants in the dirt as they are cooler. I just got a pair of Klim Mojave pants...at least I think they're the Mojave model, I can't keep `em straight... anyway, fully vented mesh everywhere. I'm looking forward to trying them out soon.

For commuting in hot weather (it was 91 degrees in Oakland yesterday:eek:) I wear a set of ballistic mesh Olympia AirGlide gear in silver. I look like an astronaut with my super-shiny silver Tech 6's:lol:
I think it's pretty much "one and done" gear, but if it saves me once it will have been worth it as I have a very hard time in the heat. 18 degrees, no problem, but as soon as it gets hot I wilt like the delicate hot-house orchid that I am:)

I used to take the heat well, but now that I am older than the dirt on which I often ride, I don't tolerate the warm weather like we are having right now. 98 degrees yesterday, 92 today. Rode last weekend, but it was about 80/85 up in the mountains. Didn't even need vented gear and one guy in our group had a not so great way to cool off.
