Ok gents; give me the clean scoop here. I have a new 2010 TE 450 (325 miles) and my fuel pump took a vacation on my 1st ride. This was a demo bike, so there is no warranty. What is the best route on the repair? Thanks, H.
Here is the aftermarket fuel pump that most seem to go to: http://www.ca-cycleworks.com/fuel-pump-for-fuel-injected-husqvarna-4-strokes
yep- but I'd have to say the best fix is when its just one of the 15amp minifuses that went out. then the relay.. a buddy replaced the pump (updated stock one...$600)- without checking either the fuse or the relay...turned out to be the relay. now he's got a spare pump- don't forget to check the little things first.
Checked everything, and then removed the pump asm. The pump is DOA. Is the CA Cycle works pump any good? Do I need a backup?
The CA Cycle Works Fuel Pump has been reported to be a good replacement- haven't seen any reports of those going out. I'd say that's the best replacement option (only one known to slide into the cradle without modification as well). That's what I would buy if needed. As far as spares go... sure if you want buy a spare. The luck with fuel pumps seems to be quite varied: some guys report early failure and some have never had an issue. I for one am running the stock one that came in my bike when I bought it in March of 2009: which has been through a lot of offroad miles/hours without issue.
Hi Harlow, I would go with the CA Cycle works fuel pump option if you need one. Btw your bike should still have a warranty at those miles. mk
Sharpie 1 found this I think it might be the best http://www.af1racing.com/store/Scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=5926 Then you could get a CA Cycleworks pump and fix the old unit and have a complete spare.
To let you all know, have the CA Cycleworks pump as a backup, and installed the Aprilia assembly, but changed the fuel level sensor using the Husky one. No install issues. H.
