• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

what mix ratio? what 2 stroke oil?

If your asking about what we use in ours,
1980 390CR, 32:1 Belray Fully Synthetic, Australian 98RON pump

250WR-1.jpg

klotz super techniplate, 40:1 liquid cooled, 32:1 air cooled.
80% synthetic, 20% castor...the smell is hard to beat!

I'm just wondering what mix and brand of oil everyone likes.

Thanks to everyone who responded. I figured I could learn something by asking I never ran castor before.

castor is supposed to have some properties that are hard to duplicate in a synthetic...i know it smells fantastic and always brings compliments to those that get stuck behind you! it does a great job of making a rider not complain as much about being pelted with roost! but seriously, i have run it for quite awhile and have had great results with durability. there are many oils that will do a fine job, but thats my choice. i ran golden spectro for a few years before klotz and it was ok, but didnt seem to burn as clean (or smell as good)

I run Amsoil 32:1 in my air cooled XC500. There are lots of good oils so it is hard to go wrong but more oil is better for these air cooled bike especially.

I like Amsoil as i have never had an issue with it and a buddy ran my 125 all day with no coolant (tore the hose and did not know) in the summer through the gnar. Ran all day although he said it was down on power. Would not start the next day and have zero compression. Rings were cooked into the piston, plastic powervalve arm was melted into a lump at the bottom of the PV chamber, piston and cylinder still looked good and it did not seize. Amazing. Sold me on its effectiveness.

im running motorex as well but I go out to 75 to 1 and some times 100 to 1. (I have a watercooled model....)

Castor 927 32:1 in 50/50 mix of 110 leaded race fuel and 90 octane non-ethanol pump. I run that in everything from my '72 Penton 100 to my '01 Honda CR500.

I run Amsoil Dominator 2T @ 32:1. (The 4% ratio listed in the WR tech sheet above would be 25:1, 5.12 oz of oil per gallon of gas... if I am using my calculator correctly)
