Comments say it is for a 15hp version for learners OR is for street legal status in some countries. Whatever it is it is ugly and sticks out a long ways.
That the freeride? Supposed to be for torque not top end. The free ride i thought doesnt have powervalves either.
Such a shame they went to all the trouble to make it shiny so it can get beat to death. If I know them, it's designed to last a few hours and be replaced. I mean, ya can't blame them. They go and make a simple, reliable platform and realize that they won't get much income with replacement parts. Solution...Ahhh ve make zee exxxxpansion shhhamber head pipe easy to smoosh, no? YAAAAA!
It looks like KTM puts that goofy pipe on their new "6 days" enduro line. The gopro does add it's own distortion and I'm having a hell of a time finding a non distorted picture to link. There is one on the KTM site: http://www.ktm.com/enduro/300-exc-six-days/highlights.html#prettyPhoto. The one pictured there has a pipe guard on it. I'm interested to learn the reasoning behind it as they claim this bike is "ready to race" so I imagine it has some performance benefit.
F@#k the pipe someone needs a slap! Green grips on a orange bike wtf umm call the fashion police, "theres been a double homicide"
Those pipes are for street homologation in EU. Green grips are covers, so grubby hands don't soil the grips. Neither usually leaves the dealer.
You can tell ive never bought a new bike... Still ugly lol. The gnarly on my wr sticks out either side like a chrome boa on the front of my bike. Same width as rads that are up out of the way see
Looks like an upside down chili pepper. After the engine has been running a while, it'll be a red hot chili pepper!
All the Huskys and Ktms come to the UK fitted with that pipe ! Its even fitted wth a cat, I have a few laying around that I use for the brackets / flanges ect, Mike at Husky Sports gives me as many as I want. Bikes fitted with the things run like the airbox has a pillow stuffed in it
