125-200cc What weight shock spring for ......

... 195 lb rider + gear . So 205 - 210 lbs? I ride mx only on the bike, with an occasional gp thrown in. Any suggestions? On previous bikes I've preferred heavy springs and light valving.... bike is a 2014 cr 125

My sag is perfect with a 5.8 for 200 pounds (with gear) on my 09.

I ordered a 6.0. I found a thread by vinduro on a 2011 wr125. he weighed 185 and got good numbers with the 6.0.

I'm 20lbs lighter and I run a 5.8 on my 2009. I probably could have bumped up to a 6.0 with less preload and got the right sag numbers but the 5.8 feels pretty good.

Dwight contends that the spring that will perform the best is the stiffest with the minimum amount of preload that yields proper sag numbers.
You will probably be able to get the right sag numbers with a variety of springs but for softer springs more preload will be needed which according to Dwight gives a harsher ride.

Good info. I'm about 195 and may have been able to go even heavier on the spring but I will make the 6.0 work. I'm riding the stock (5.0?) spring right now. I tend to ride jumpier tracks and I have to really get forward on the bike to keep it level or slightly nose down while jumping. I may need heavier fork springs too. Some jump faces were really compressing the forks and I was getting some high speed wobble in faster sections. I just picked up a gpr stabilizer set up custom modded for the cr. I'm debating if it will go the cr or my rm.....

The other unfortunate variable is that just because a spring is marked as a 6 or 5.8 etc and sold as one doesn't mean that is what it is.
That is why professional tuners measure the springs to be sure. I have heard this from more than one professional tuner.
