Whats the best sprocket set up for the TE 250?

New guy here again.. So I put the 50t on my rear and its great for low gear power ..hill climbing etc. Not so great at speed of any kind. Does adding a slightly bigger front (13) even things out a bit? Or should I leave the 12 on the front and go to 43 or 45 on the rear? What is the best all around combo?

Are you sure you have a 12T up front? My 2010 came with a 13 up front. I have had the same issue but haven't bothered changing gearing yet. However I have a long DS ride coming up in November, and am planning on switching to 14/49 so I can gear up a bit while using the stock chain.

Ahh. forgot about the chain length issue. Mine came with the longer chain for the 40t sprocket so wondering if that chain would work in the set up you have described above? I do think mine front is the 13 up front.

I run 12 50 for single track and can change on the fly to 13 50 for Dual Sport and ridig around town. Just gotta make sure that the chain is set up accordingly

TC's were 12

I've settled on 13/48 on my 06'. I'll put a 12 on the front for tight trails, and a 14 for wide open desert. The 13 for everything in between. The stock chain length works fine.

Thanks.. so how much difference is there between a 48 and the 50?

With the 12T on the front it has just enough extra for most of the really tight rocky trails while still being able to cruise the fire roads comfortably at 40-45 mph. 12/50 was great on the trails, but too low on the flat sections in between. 13/48 is great just about everywhere. I've also put a 15T on the front for longer rides with more pavement. I even commuted to work one day (15 miles on the interstate) with the 15/48. It was a little buzzy, and I got 60 mpg.

I've settled on 13/45 on my 310, not great on road sections between tracks but best compromise I think.

I run 13/50 it works pretty good, gona try 13/51

4% for the ratios. 3.70 for the 13/48 3.85 for the 13/50 At 60 mph, that's 2.4 mph

7.7% difference between 12/50 and 13/50 4.17 v. 3.85 60 mph that's 4.6 mph.

I have a 2004 TE250 with a 300kit and have been running a 13-50 (3.84) and 14-50 (3.57) and after riding the tight stuff the 14 is to big, the 13 is ok but still a little luggy in the tight stuff and up hill, going between first and second. I'm trying to figure out the best gear for all the trails I ride before I drop the coin on a TiMoly rear sprocket. After going over the ratio numbers my next gear to try will be a 12-48 (4.00) for the really tight stuff and staying in second and third ( to get rid of hitting nutrual going from second down to first, witch I do all to offten), and 13-48 (3.69) should be good for the more open rides. So some will say that one or two teeth don't make a big deal, and I dissagree, one tooth can be the differance between a OK ride and a (get into a great rythem) awesome ride.

Hello can please tell what you investigate in the end ? what best ratio for your opinion ? i have husq te 250 2010 and need to have 80km speed to go to spot 30 km, and with my 13/50 ratio its very short. so thinking about 14/50 but i see from calculator that it will destroy chain very fast ((
