Some chiropractors practice alternative science and force-feed their patients this; good ones will do what they can do to keep you healthy without the BS. Mine knows I'm an engineer with no patience for non-science. I go to him once a month and it really helps keeping my spine straight. Don't let the idea of periodic adjustments scare you off. I always feel better afterwards. I've found physical therapy necessary for a single, short term injuries. PTs are trained in medicine, no BS. The key idea for either is to find a guy you trust.
I am a decade younger but still heal slow and have a child to take care of so what I do is just slow down. I basically never ride over 80% and so far have the reputation with my regular riding crew as the guy who never crashes. I started riding dirt bikes about 8 years ago and with the exception of slow speed tip overs I have crashed only twice. Sometimes I think if I was willing to crash as often as the guys I ride with I would be about the same speed as them (all A riders) but being a fast guy isn’t a priority for me. Also I tend to prefer difficult technical terrain because that way I can challenge myself and if I crash I am barely moving. I stated riding dirt bikes late so I never was fast and had to slow down so that makes it easier. But I was fairly crazy on a mountain bike at one time. Last summer I went to Whister and rented a bike. After a couple hours I felt like I could ride the double blacks I used to but I decided to stay off them and just stick with more intermediate trails. The goal now is just to have fun and be in one piece at the end of the day.
I'm 58 and need to lose a few cheeseburgers; having said that, I am getting back in shape, because the thought of giving up riding my Husky is too terrible to think about.
& you will feel better too!!! The older I get the less I like to excersize! Sooooooooooooooo I'll just ride more! If possible. Week of rain right now.
