How come we don't have any legends on here giving us riding tips, etc.... like another site.

Im a legend in my own mind so heres my tip.
Always wear clean underwear before you go out. You never know where you may end up.

Maybe on this site they prefer to be just another rider? It is fair to say that we have some *extremely* talented people on this site.

Ben Smith joined the other day, I believe he does ok from what I've heard, and Nick Burson of course, there are many...

Here is a link to some results from Nick's site

If you're dirt riding, always wear black underwear, then it won't matter if they are clean or not.:D

Funny you should say that. Years ago after a very nasty crash I was sitting on a hospital bed in my underwear. In walks my wife and says " Couldn't you have put on underwear with out holes in them. It's not like you don't have tons of good ones". Turns our the boys were hanging out and I didn't even notice. Ha ha! They were about the only part of my whole body that was not sore. Missed work for three months on this one.

in my experiance the rescue crew cut your clothing off as soon as they strap you to the back board and tell you to quit trying to move.

i would have liked to save that pair of undies, and pants and shirt and shoes. i did get a helicopter ride out of it so i guess thts a fair trade.

im still learning but this is what i know. look at where you want to be, not what your going over.

    breath, stay loose.

also, (from a good friend whos way faster then i) worry about getting confortable first, then worry about going fast.

I agree, there are some very talented & fast riders on this forum. Maybe someone can start a "riders tip" post or sticky but I'm afraid it will get very complicated! Most of us know what to do but just don't do it enough :D Personally speaking of course! I do like the saying to get comfortable before going fast. There are probably a lot of sayings that may help novice riders especially. I remember writing tips on my daughters crossbar to try to keep her focused & working on something.

    My question was:

Why can't we start a techinical riding area where maybe Scot, Drew, Ty, Nick and others could give us some advance riding tips?

You mean a forum such as 'Pro riding tips'?

Every one of those people are members already except for Ty, as far as I know. If there were enough input from those people I could create another forum. Creating a forum and hoping they would post really would not work as well.

    Hi Dartyppyt
I have talked to Joe Chod and he is trying to arrange for a school to be held at the 2010 Husky gathering in N.Y. I have offered to provide something like a one hour suspension school to help in that area.
I read the Cafe husky site regulary and havent seen too many riding techinque questions. I am very opinionated and willing to share my thoughts . However, I type with one finger and cant spell and these problems tend to discourage me from lengthy descriptions. Lets all try and support Joe's and Norm' efforts to provide the best Husky gathering yet. That kind of a get together provides a great forum for all of us to learn something. all the best in 2010. Drew.

    Drew,

Thanx for jumping in. Maybe we could get someone to post your suspension tips after the gathering to help you. I wish I could go to something like that but do to my work schedule/racing this year/no raise in two years, taking two weeks unpaid furlough time. I am not able to go. It would be nice to have some pro tips posted, training tips, riding in ruts, log jumping etc... I find that the little things work great and are helpful. The more the Huskys get on the podiums the more we'll sell.

    Thanx

    Hi Drew,

If you can't type well, perhaps something like Dragon Naturally Speaking would be a good purchase. I've heard many good things about it, but personally have never tried it-- unfortunately my hands type faster than my brain can keep up at times.

    Here it is: http://www.nuance.com/naturallyspeaking/landing/consumer.asp

Thank you brandon, I'm trying and getting better. I Dont think I'll try any software. I still do best in personal conversation or by phone. Wish we could all get together at the gathering.

Perhaps a video from the gathering? That way someone else could do all the work

For the record - "naturally speaking" has been around for years, I assume it is still a great product. But it is yet another thing to keep track of. I believe Microsoft may have some free tools as well.
