I see quite a few members leave out where they live in their profile. It could be really helpful to have this information on posts. It can help point people to resources. If you're on the lam, disregard.
There's another forum I frequent that has a map of the US, and all of the members can mark the point on the map where they live. It would be cool to have something like that on here as well.
For at least a year the location field is required to join, of course any text will do. I did want to give them a chance to think about what to put in there. I live in the San Francisco bay area. The bay area is many large continuous cities and all run together. Of course most people have heard of Oakland and San Jose. Some gadget enthusiasts may have even heard of Sunnyvale, Cupertino (Apple is one "1 Infinite Loop"), and Palo Alto. I am in a small community where many of the sports people (A's, 49rs, etc) live. I've been looking at that. Trouble is the ones that exist usually require a zip code, and many people don't like to provide that. If it was done I would probably use 3 or 4 of the zip code digits. And there are the international people who use a different system completely. To me honest I would probably do the dealer locations first. I know they want to be found.
I live in Simpsonville, SC...next to Greenville, SC.,which is between Charlotte, NC and Atlanta, GA. on the 85 corridor.
I live in North Bend, Wa Its about 30 miles east of Seattle. (Closer to the mtn trails) - yes I planned that
Sydney Australia, aka Gods own country. My suburb is called Seaforth and its 9 kms from the CBD but on Sydney harbour. Its a lovely leafy area with great water views. I can drive an hour North, South or West (I'm on the East coast) and be is some really great riding country. Mind you, Motosportz's out look is pretty hard to match-just have to go to areas like BC and Oregon for some riding. If its as good as the skiing it would be brilliant.
I'm in Newberg, OR 97132 Call me ignorant, but what are some of the concerns people have with posting their location?
Cause when something bad happens, there are always lingering doubts who may have done it - and why. It could be as simple as a prank, or something more serious.
