  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Where to buy the Husqvarna DB Killer for my TE310?

The exhaust on my TE310 is so loud, it gives me a headache.. I can fit two thumbs side by side into the end of the exhaust, so I'm guessing something's been taken out at some point, and it doesnt look like the exhaust in the manual I have (admittedly the it's the 2011 bike in the manual) in terms of exit aperture

This guy: http://rickramsey.net/TE310mods.htm#muffler
makes mention of a "db killer" some exhaust insert he popped in to quieten down the bike. Having seen a couple of vids of huskys with and without these things on youtube, i think I'd definitely prefer the running noise of my TE with one in.. but where can I get one? ta

Ahh.. if only i'd read a little closer.. i think i've answered my own question.. Husqvarna part number 8000H0827 , as mentioned rick's page :D

With the stock spark arrestor/insert, my 310 was still right at the db limit when I got it tested at a local site that actually enforced noise restrictions. I was surprised, as it was showroom stock (not even with any of the powerups done). Limit was 96dB, he measured me at 95.4  but didn't chase me away, just glared...

Anyhow, I pulled the dbdawg off my RMZ, fit perfectly and certainly sounds a lot mellower, though I haven't had it tested since.
