Hi guys, I have just purchased a pair of 30W auxiliary lights for my TE630. Does anyone have a good idea as to where to mount them?
RDTCU did a neat job with those: http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/trailtech-x2-fairing-headlight.29158/#post-262480 His is the second post in that thread.
Thanks guys, I will have to mount the lights onto the Barkbusters as I also have a Safari tank. Do you connect the lights along with the high beam wiring, if so where would be the best place to connect? This would save additional wiring , relay, and on/off switch. DYNONBOB, compliment to your clean looking bike! Do you have any problem with light reflecting off your screen? I will have the same problem with my Slipstream screen. My headlight lense is looking rather sad too. I am not sure if it is caused by the 55Watts HID light that I installed.
I took the windshield off for now because the brackets also hit the tank. I had a little reflection from the headlight but rarely ride this bike after dark. .
I pulled power for mine off of the battery with an in-line fuse block and a relay pulling the signal from the high beam relay, so they're on their own fuse, but they come on with the high beam.
Just got back from a big ride that i clocked a lot of night hours.Have them mounted on the barkbusters. Worked excellently.I have power to a small fuse block mounted up front. This is hooked to a relay wired off the high beam feed at the headlight also have a switch to turn them off.
WickedWill, nice fuse block. Where did you get it from? Is there an easy way to tap into the high beam relay? I think it is the Green/Black wire is the high beam relay wire? I am heading off for a big ride next month. Melbourne to Mt Dare, ride across the Simpson Desert to Birdsville, then onto Cape York, down through the coast to Brisbane & Fraser Island before heading straight home.
That is an impressive ride. I thought that my planned Mornington Peninsular to Cape York (in a direct route as possible) sounded ambitious.
The fuse block came from supercheap i think. http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/products/SCA-Automotive-Fuse-Box-4-Way-Blade.aspx?pid=120458&menuFrom=40105#Cross I tapped into the wire at the headlight socket for high beam. The relay i used is just for the aux lights,it came with the lights.Battery goes to fuse block, fuse block power to the relay , high beam wire triggers the relay.I have a switch inline from the relay to the lights so i can just run high beam if necessary. Your trip sounds awesome.I can't wait to get back out to the simpson on the 630.
Thanks. I will head out to Supercheap Auto tomorrow and pick one up. Nice wiring job too. This will tidy up my wiring. I will hook up the heated grip, GPS and cigarette lighter socket to the fuse block.
