I filled it with premium for the first tank after a little break in run as I thought it was a higher compression engine. I was curious what everyone with the 2008 TE610IE is running for fuel grade? I am used to bikes with carbs so I realize the computer could advance the timing if it uses a knock sensor etc but I don't know if the 610 has a knock sensor. Anyhow, whats the recommended fuel or the best for the bike?
    Thanks,

I have always ran premium in all my Bikes, and I run it in my 610.

I couldn't find anything in the manual about what octane to use.

I found a spec sheet and it said "regular" gas.

    http://www.motorcycle.com/specs/husqvarna/on-off-road/2008/te/610/detail.html

I also found this. No redline

    Performance
    Horsepower (bhp): 52.3 bhp
    Torque (Ft Lbs): 38.4 lbs
    Redline RPM: N/A RPM

    Found this:

    http://209.85.173.132/search?q=cach...ed line"&hl=en&client=firefox-a&gl=ca&strip=1

The guy says that there is a rev limiter and it is set for around 8,250 rpm. This cannot be adjusted.

He also says that there is a rev warning light and that you can adjust that.

The manual shows a redline warning light. And it says it comes on at approx 8,250 rpm. But I also could not see anything about a rev limiter.

    That guy is funny too…:D

    I've recently been at this juncture and what I have learned was that although the owner manual just says;
    “Always use UNLEADED FUEL.” <--:excuseme:
Most knowledgeable riders don’t take it as “great I’ll just put the cheap stuff in...”
Go for the higher grades, I think it backfires less now…:busted:

I run the 87 octane in my truck, but for the 20 cents extra and the 120 or so gallons i put thru my bike a year I run the 91 or 92 stuff.
I also dont run the quiktrip gas. I look for a BP.
i run the better gas in all my small engines, honda lawn mower. sthil weed eater, and right now my fricken toro snow fricken snow blower.
    I hate kansas's winters.

Thanks for the info and comments on the grade of fuel. I noticed that in the manual too about always use unleaded gas. And I read on a site that posted the TE610's info it said regular gas. I always go by the compression of the engine as that rule works pretty well. In fact when I ran premium in my DRZ400 I always had this weird noise like clatter or timing too far advanced. The bike calls for regular as its lower compression. I also heard where people had the same bike clatter when using regular. I switched to mid grade for an experiment and it runs great and that clatter is gone. Does anybody know if the TE610 has a knock sensor to advance/retard the timing?

I run primarily Sunoco 94 (no ethanol) when I can find it. This is per George @ Uptite's suggestion. I've found here in the Midwest that most of our fuel has ethanol added to it(10-15%) which makes less BTU's than straight gasoline. When i was doing jetting this summer I experimented with a few spark plugs and found that trying read the plug color with an ethanol fuel is about worthless as it usually appears a bit rich (carbon) until you lean out the needle circuit. With straight gasoline the plug checks jive with jetting changes as expected. Just my 2cents, your mileage may vary.

No worries on the ethanol here . I was also wondering as far as fuel additives go, if I should continue my practice of adding a little "Sea Foam" to the tank like I do on my carburated bikes? I guess if I read the can I will know if it does injectors too but I would imagine it would.
    Thanks,

I have done 6000 miles in Mexico with my carbureted '06 TE610, it did fine on the red and the green, the latter pretty low octane. My

1150GS however hates the green, will do "ok" on a mix of the two but really prefers the red.
