On the odd week end here in SA--When i am not taking a group out on Tour i often arrange a get together with some newbie and Old friends on our Dual Sport bike for a casual ride to introduce the new riders to gravel roads. We allways have a heap of fun. I beleive one should just throw in a odd curve ball with a ride like this to get the new riders heart rate up--just a tiny bit to make the day worthwhile. This Sunday was no exception. After we gathered at the meeting point and i laid down a few simple rules as to what to and not what to do we left on a 180km short trip. Some of the Group and the first picture of a Husky from the Swedish Army-Automatic as well My 2 IC Checking the Husky out--old school. Seventy two and still going strong-thats what i love to see. The Suprise i had for them. And why i prefer being back on a Husky--light as a feather compared to......... His excuse was.....My shoes i am wearing have NO Grip One of the 7 ladies who joined in on the ride---Most of them had no problems at all How many people are needed to repair a BMW Sump bash plate You decide. The Army edition auto Husky just plodding along. All in all i had 34 riders and one pillion--was a looooooooong day. Hope you enjoy.
Couldn't you have thrown in an odd lion and elephant to get the heart rate up. I know the Boks arn't doing it for you at the moment. Nice bit of torment though.
Looks like a great day was has by (almost) all. South Africa is a long way from here but we do occasionally get mud too. The rider was 72 years old? Or the bike was from 1972?
That XL 500 is sweet for it's age. If it was a US model I would say it was a 79 (1st yr) or 80, as the 81 had an aluminum swing arm. It's XR brother would wheelie up in 5th no clutch, a hop and a tug and a twist, and ride it untill you ran out of road. Nice RR.
The gentleman riding the Xr asked me wher he can get a new front tyre 23inch. Told him i had no clue. then he asked me he was looking at a XR500 or a XR 650 R
Let me not even talk about the Boks----Maybe we should fire the coach that seems to be the norm here in SA, when any team does bad--fire the coach.
