    Had my first ride on my 2008 WR250, loved the ride. I decided to change the front tire... gotta get some special tools to get wheel off..why... also had changed oil before ride, measured it when I changed it... can't find a way to check oil... why so hard to do simple things? also it has an 19" rear wheel, wanted to put a 18" back on it, already gave up trying to get parts to do that. Maybe I miss my jap bike more than I thought I would.

    There is a level check hole on the left side of the bike, you remove the screw and then add oil until it drips out. Interesting it has a 19" on it. I don't miss my jap bikes at all!

    go to takasago excel website and order a Husky specific 18" rim. Not hard. No real reason to check transmission oil unless you suspect the crank seals are drinking it? Measure in and measure out to verify qty. Ya, I bought a 12mm allen wrench on eBay for front rim. No big deal.

    For the front wheel I bought one of these: http://www.mscdirect.com/product/01..._sJXegN7a0_PLA__15557577904_c_S&026=-99&025=c Then I welded it to a tire iron. When I bought my 2003 Honda CR 250 I needed to buy a 32mm socket for the rear axel which cost way more than a 12mm hex key...

    Checking the oil... There again, pretty much the same as my past CR250's, RM250's, & YZ250's (all my Kawi's has sight glasses) only on the other side of the bike.

    18" vs 19"..... 6 one way, half a dozen the other. really doesn't matter to me.

    I still have Japanese bikes as well as Austrian, Spanish, and Italian....

    would kicking a bike with the kicker on the left make your head explode?
    dont make it harder than it needs to be...you cant find a wheel on ebay?

    Hold strong, don't go back. The WR250 is an awesome bike. Smooth power delivery and it turns on a dime. You just need to tweak a few things to make it perfect. I had my suspension custom done after the first year and that was huge. I also run a Bridgestone M59 on the front and a Pirelli MT43 trials tire on the rear. Ride it some more and give it a real chance...

    It's not difficult, just a different set if tools. I bought a front rim and tire off of e-bay a year ago for $100. Classified's on this site are decent too.

    Thanks for the reply's. Bought a 12mm allen socket at Napa. Agree the oil checking is not a problem and I really shouldn't worry about the 19" rear wheel. The bike is a blast to ride, no jap bike for me. Thanks again

    Someone must have put a 19" rim back there ... I have bikes with both sizes and I'm not sure why racers have 19" and enduros have 18" ... I can't really tell much difference BUT I can only get 18" at a good price here .... So I only want 18s and end up swapping wheels to save the 19" for races or what ever.

    As far as that tranny oil, once full, it can not get out of that case unless it is leaking I think, but not sure ... ... Just about a fill and forget item for me... I've tried all kinds of oil in there and all seem about the same ... I get some clutch drag and that's OK because when rolling, I use the clutch ~almost as much as the throttle and never an issue ... Never even adjust it ... The newer HYDRO clutches are a little easier to feather and many here say the clutch cable itself is the issue with clutch feel ...

    Someone can always say these bikes are a little quirky and I'm OK with that also ... Myself, I'm not wanting a sewing machine feeling dirt bike ...

    That race pic above is a local racer named Ayen on my bike ... These guys know little on Huskies ... I told Ayen last yr when he started racing it, that I "don't think he could break that bike racing it here all yr" ... He started off being a little easy on it maybe but after a 2-3 races, he was not cutting that bike any slack racing and never an issue other that what I caused as the mechanic ...

    Definitely a quirky bike at first, but you soon forget about all that and start looking at KTMs all funny when they have to remove the gas tank to pull the spark plug, or look at them and wonder why they have the chain on the wrong side. I'm not even joking about that last part, 4 of the 5 bikes in my garage have the chain on the right hand side, and left side is weird to me now.

    There's a reason they didn't change them much in the last 20 years...they already had things right.

    The 19" has a thinner side-wall. This gives it better response in turns. The 18" has taller side-walls. That allows it to absorb trail hack better.

    plus the 19 has a lighter tire making it spool up faster for MX.

    Don't get the 14mm front nut if you ride rocks. $30 and one ride out it was sheared off to the point of only using vise grips to get off

    you guys are great,second ride today.... what a blast, no way I would get rid of this bike. I was riding a Yamaha WR250F. Kinda miss the button but this Husky is awesome. Don't miss the Yamaha.

    Another easy question for you guys, is it normal for the rear brake rotor to rattle/vibrate. Can here it when riding. Thanks

    yeah, they float. it is a bit annoying but you get used to it
